Anyone does mainstream?

I got the urge to build a mainstream site, that will sell some kind of products (affiliate).
just wanted to hear opinions as to what products sell well? would you recommend going with ClickBank.com?
Is there some kind of advantage over adult?
and also, how hard it is and how long would it take to start making profit if I start from scratch? what are the primary traffic sources? I was thinking to base on search engines traffic, but it would be difficult to start and take a long time...

you can also hit me up on icq if you're interested: 162136565

Hi Alexg

There's loads of things you can sell from mainstream i.e ebooks, fonts, gifs etc etc!!

It also gives you the advantage of not putting sll your eggs into the one basket etc!!! the more things you can make money at the better it is

Hit me up and I can give you a great billing company to use!!

I think mainstream affiliate accounts suck. If your going mainstream, got to sell your own product. Maybe a few exceptions? Like a store front, but for the most part, my mainstream affiliate action is crapy.

For the mainstream sites I get paid to do and host - it works.

You could jump on the google adwords thing. Been tempted. Are they still doing that?

Hey alexg, if you?re seriously getting into mainstream take a look at what Winning Profits is doing. We sell a product that directly combats childhood obesity which is becoming epidemic in many developed countries all over the world.

Mainstream sites are fun. I am working on a site now for a client that is going to sell home made soy candles. Sounds boring but after staring at porn and stats all day its refreshing.

We are using 2checkout.com on that particular site. Very easy to set up and the fees seem to be inline with the other processors.

there are 2 types of mainstream, content or ecommerce. eCommerce is alot harder in mainstream than adult.

Soy candles? That doesn't sound boring at all......

How does 2checkout compare to ccnow? Do you have any experience with ccnow?

I'm working on a mainstream project now involving fishing....the product is almost ready for manufacturing...it's refreshing to talk about fish....

If you are good at SEO then I recommend google's adsense.
I make more from this than alot of my adult sites.
Target high ppc keywords.

If you have the right mainstream product it can do very well, i'm currently focusing on some mainstream sites.

SexEducation.com is a main stream site with adult content??

Well it is - people who go to the domain EXPECT to see nudity.

In another 5 years it will mean nothing to link to similar sites from "main stream sites".

"Because we all should know - right?"

My site isnt an adult site persay and i do okay on most the things i try to sell but mostly im working though aff like cj.com selling on merch , if you can find a decent processor and a decent product

the best thing to do would not just depend on SE traffic . build link trades with similar sites in the market , and keep building those links .. purchase some traffic non adult to get you started

how do you find out the high PPC search terms

slapass 03-29-2004 04:44 PM

The only down side to main stream is how seasonal it is. If it is a product you make 40% of your sales in 2 months. But I love those 2 months :)

SR 03-29-2004 04:51 PM

Mainstream rocks.
Atleast for me it does.
The ROI for me is way better than porn.... right now I get a ROI of up to 1500% with some stuff. Hard to beat that with adult.

I can recommand Clickbank they have alot of good sites.
