If your Mom got cancer, Would your Dad shoot you?

This is one fucked up story:

A hunky Hollywood star from Queens was shot and wounded yesterday by his ailing, elderly father after they argued over the actor's dying mother's battle with cancer, cops said.

Vincent Ford Jr., 42, who had a recurring role on the "Drew Carey Show," was eating lunch when his 81-year-old father opened fire at 1:15 p.m. in the family's South Jamaica home, police said.

Cops said the older Ford, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease (news - web sites), quarreled with his son over how to cope with the worsening condition of his cancer-stricken wife, Sally.

"The dad was sick, he's old," said neighbor Russell Reed, 47. "He was old, and old-timers snap."

Isaac Suber, who grew up on the block, said the elder Ford was pushed over the edge by his wife's terminal illness.

"It was watching someone die after you been married fortysomething years," said Suber, 47.

The son - who has appeared in several movies and numerous TV shows under the stage name Keith Diamond - was struck three times in the chest and jaw. He lay alone and bandaged in a recovery room at Mary Immaculate Hospital last night, heavily sedated and breathing through a tube.

Vincent Ford Sr. was charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon last night. The senior Ford, who police said was "dazed" when they arrived at his house on 139th St., was hospitalized for observation.

Sally Ford, who was at home but was not in the kitchen when the shooting erupted, also was hospitalized.

Neighbors said the younger Ford had recently flown in from his home in Los Angeles to be with his dying mom and ailing dad in the house where he grew up.

He was planning to get married in May, neighbors said.

Sally Ford had been undergoing treatment at a Long Island hospital, but recently came home, where she slept in a hospital bed in the dining room, neighbors said.

Lavica Harrison, a neighbor, said she never knew of any friction between the father and son - and called the family "tight-knit."

"They never argued," said Harrison, 39. "He was a good man. I never heard him lift his voice."

Police found an old .32-caliber pistol they suspect the father used in the shooting.

Blood was spattered on the half-open white screen door and dripped down the front steps of the home where the family has lived for nearly a half-century.

The wounded actor, who had roles in the films "Awakenings" and "Biker Boys," played Greg Clemens, a neighbor of Carey in the hit ABC sitcom.

A TV executive who worked with Ford on another sitcom was stunned to hear of the shooting. "He's a very talented actor and a great guy," said Steve Sustarsic, who worked on the short-lived Judge Reinhold show "Secret Service Guy."With Tony Sclafani
