I've got a pit + lab mix. Great dog...Only weighs about 55-60lbs.
He loves to lick - everything. Has never once had any kind of temper problems. It's all on how you raise them. :glugglug

If you ever se one of these up close, they better be behind a strong fence or you're dead meat. Don't trust a leash, unless you carry a gun. I did some work for a breeder, and one of them almost got loose. The bitch got out of her kennel (how the fuck do you forget to lock the kennel cage when you have strangers working on the propery?), and the only reason I kept the wood stockade fence closed was by using two hammers - I was lucky enough to see the senaky fucker coming - she didn't bark until I pulled the gate shut.

I used to train dogs for a living.
Funny thing with Fila, they are the most loyal dogs to their owners, but only to their owners.
They are also good with kids.
I was playing with one for like two hours and she was the friendliest little doggie you can play with, and then, without any warning, she jumped me like I was her worst enemy.
This comes from their nature though. They used to guard the farms from jaguars and theives in Brazil, back in the 19th century.

yes, the love for the owner is amazing - but if the owner is a single guy, and gets married when the dog is mature, forget it - the dog will not be bound to the owners family, and will not like them.

The breeder I knew was Portuguese, and he said this trait was known as "oeversia" (something like that, been a few years) - basically a hatred of strangers.
