OMG! MPA2 has a shave feature!!

So do most other affiliate software packages, get a clue people.

All you people bitching about not promoting a sponsor that uses MPA2 are just a bunch of morons plain and simple. :2 cents:

If you don't trust the people behind the sponsor program then choose another program to promote.

Not all affiliate software has a shave feature. I'm sure you could hire a programmer to add it, but that would cost a pretty penny. I feel it's just best to be straight forward and honest and cater to your affiliates. I think many just have to realize that if a program chagres customers 29.95 or 24.95, 50-60% of that for a payout is basically all there left to run a complete and honest program. How can someone pay 35-40 bucks on a 24.95 join, if there isnt something strange going on.
I feel safer promoting a 50/50 affiliate program than all these flashy big numbers you see.
All in all it's about conversions and the bottom line.. And I mean first page unique conversions. Anyone can convert 1:20 from join page uniques :)
cheers

I was going to touch on that too but just said "F" it. But it makes you think about what percentage of these croos sells are pre checked or the customer isnt 100% sure he's paying for 2 sites when he only wanted to join one. How many times before asurfer gets anally pillaged before he never bothers joining another site again. That's why it's my notion that with a straight 50/50 or 60/50 program no one gets screwed.

Cross sales, exit traffic, members area upsells, etc.. There are several ways a paysite can make extra cash from affiliate traffic & sales. If you have a good business sense and take advantage all the extra ways to make money, then paying a flat fee per signup is reasonable, especially if you have good retention.

Better use a third party processor like ibill or ccbill for no shaving.

Warden 03-28-2004 07:22 PM

Shaving is bad karma. There are programs out there that are honest. One reason I like to get face to face with people I do business with.

Joesho 03-28-2004 07:23 PM

Why is there a shave feature in the first place, and who was the original sponsor that requested that the programmer put it in there?

How can we tell if sponsor that uses a third party processor is shaving us? For example, a program that just uses ccbill. How can they shave us using them? I know that they can and I have heard it from many people on the boards. What are their options? Do they shave rebills, do they shave a certain percent or what?

What exactly are the facts you have to back up that statement?

Wake up people most programs shave ... work with the program that makes you the most money ... period

blaming MPA2 for sponsors that shave is ridiculous

The average new program starting up offering 30-50$PSU is more than likely going to be shaving unless they have their shit correct on the inside - with upsells/cross sells etc ( which from some simple investigation - it's easy to see there are many that don't ) Most of the big programs really have thier shit in order - but this isnt going to 100% determine how much money they want / if they will shave or not.

slackologist 03-28-2004 08:55 PM

So what if MPA2 has a shave feature, it's an unfortunate byproduct of talentless greedy fucks in the industry that can't fly their shit without ripping people off.

blackmonsters 03-28-2004 10:29 PM

Verotel, CCBill and former Globill have no shave functions.

Some can limit rebills paid but the affiliate webmaster is notified by email if the feature is used so that is not shaving.
Shaving is when the program lies about your payout.

BluMedia 03-28-2004 10:31 PM

You can shave with CCBill we accidently did it a few years ago, so I don't want to hear any bullshit that you can't shave with CCBill.

Mark

StuartD 03-28-2004 10:35 PM

It also doesn't count webmaster referal sales very well.

And has TONS of bugs.

oh, and yeah, has a shave feature (top of the main page in the admin, most prominant feature in there).

I would rather not say on here because then everybody will be doing it. It was pretty easy though and a simple mistake. CCBill helped us fix it back when we were using their affiliate program.
