how can i cut a quick time(.mov) file?

i got a 1.4GB .mov file quality is awsome, trying to burn it to cd-r obviously i need more then one cd. i tryed using TMPGEnc to make it into an .mpeg (so i can use virtual dub to cut it) but somewhere in the coding it fucks up and i can't read the .mpeg, any help is apreciated

You can easily cut with Quicktime Pro, you just select the portion of the video with the little tabs and then copy and paste it into a blank Quicktime Window and save it. Or use something like a iMovie to chop it up.
