Dvd +r or -r? Please help me....
I've got a dvd burner for a couple of weeks now and i want to make backups of my dvd's and maybe in the future backups of my home video's.
I know there are 2 standards right now in the dvd world (+r and -r). I want to buy writable dvd's that have the best quality/price combination. I don't know that much right now about writable dvd's, so that's why i ask you for some help... Should i buy dvd -r or dvd +r? And what are the best brands who make writable dvd's? |
Just get a +/- burner.. they're cheap.
If you HAVE to pick one or the other, go with -R because the demand is greater for that format so the blanks are cheaper. As far as brands go... I don't think that matters much anymore these days either. I got a NEC ND2500A I think.... 8x DVD +/- R... it was ~$100 or $150. |
berner, as in bärner?

I think you misunderstood my question... I already have a burner (8x +r/-r). A was looking for a answer on my question what dvd writables i should buy to make backups of my dvd's. The writable dvd's must have a very good quality to store movies on and they should stay good for at least a couple of years.... |
I've read some dvd writable tests on the internet now and it seems that the writable dvd's of plextor are very very good.
Does anybody has experience with those writable dvd's or knows a brand that has the same quality? |
-R and +RW
all else sucks.........dual layer dvd burners in the next few weeks too :) get ready for 8.5GB singlesided burning in 45minutes. |
Prodisc 4x DVD-R blanks are the shit.. ~$45 fpr 50 of them, no coasters, and I'm burning them at 8x no problem (firmware hack).
avoid compusa dvd-r's like the plague. |

at 8x a full 4.7G DVD rip only takes about 12 minutes to burn.. |
