anyone here have any first hand knowledge of Scientology?

I 'd like to know if anyone has found it successful in either getting their life focused or if they have successfully kicked drugs through their purification program....

I am fascinated by this and I have always been under the impression it's a cult until I recently read and saw some stuff that was very enlightening....

read "operation clambake"
http://www.xenu.net/

they'll even tell you the secret about all the murdered aliens that possess your soul, that only scientology can cure (save yourself $10K+ on that secret alone) while you're their read about the wrongful death, and kidnapping case they have against them, and their attempts to censor the internet for their members.

:D

TheGoldenChild 03-26-2004 02:46 PM

yea they take a lot of a person't eanings from what I understand-
I thnk Travolta and Cruise give 70% of their earnings to the church-

Lisa Marie Presley
Isaac Hayes
Doug E Fresh
Tom Cruise
John Travolta
Kirstie Alley

they are all Scientologists- most are former drug addicts as well.

I am looking into why that program would be successful for their sobriety- for a friend

I know a few people into Scientology --- they are both wack jobs --- the church should ask them to quit, they aren't helping the cause!

I think anyone who focuses on improving their own life can do it on their own. Do you need to spend a lot of money for someone to tell you how to improve? When you probably already know the answer?

my two cents

seeing as you're sounding rather serious about it, please at least read
http://www.xenu.net

it contains a lot of information about some of the bad things about scientology, including their use of the court system to surpress anyone who writes bad things about them, a wrongful death suit against the church for a member subjected to "auditing", the stupid secrets the church has you pay for to obtain, their hassassment of former members, (including picketing their work, leaflet drops in their neighbourhood, hiring private investigators etc.) it also tells you about a type of netnanny software that scientology sends to people that filters certain words and peoples names/sites etc from being displayed on your computer.
I would carefully consider what you're getting yourself into first.

Aly-Python 03-26-2004 02:53 PM

Make money. Make more money. Make other people make money.

- L. Ron Hubbard

That was his philosophy, KB. An admirable one if you're peddling porn, but not so much when you're organizing a 'religion'... Please ask your 'friend' to be a little careful.

liquidblue33 03-26-2004 02:55 PM

i live Clearwater, FL, where there headquarters is. the
practically bought the entire downtown area. They walk
around in packs like a bunch of drones. Weird people.

HeebyJeeby 03-26-2004 02:55 PM

Scientology is a joke. They try to convince you that they can heal you by putting their hands close to your body. Then if it fails, they say you didn't believe in it. Typical scam bullshit.

Also, if you don't make a lot of money, they won't even want you as a member.

D-Money 03-26-2004 02:56 PM

C'mon KB, you know the answer to your question.

Remember when you were blind folded my them and they tried to bring you to their "clear" stage?

Fuckin' cult.

Scientology told Tom Cruise that Nicole Kidman was full of thetans.

So he lost his mind and dumped her.

That finally explains it! Who the hell, in their right mind, would let Nicole Kidman slip through their fingers?!

KB,

They are a scary group of people. Stay as far away from them as you can. I know a little more about them than the average joe. If you really feel enlightened by what you read, contact me before you make a big mistake.

They want to clense your body of all toxins.

Which is a good idea by the way.

The rest of their methods were a little weird at times.

KB and I worked for a company back in our early sales days that used Scientology as their business structure. They made us read that book by L Ron ve Hubbard and gave us all "hats" to wear pertaining to our job duties.

It was an interesting approach to use as a business structure, accept for their personalities were all lost individuals, made it really strange.

Trust me, you don't want to get into Scientology for any reason. They can help you get off drugs, but that's an effect from brainwashing you into blindly believing everything with a Scientology stamp on it (and "Source" L. Ronald Hubbard was very much against drugs and psychology because they couldn't cure his paranoid schizophrenia and possibly other mental problems as well). If you have any questions about Scientology I would be happy to talk to you. I have read a lot of books and talked to a lot of people about this cult and its followers.

Repetitive Monkey 03-26-2004 03:05 PM

Their "purification rundowns" consists of overdoses on vitamins and excersize in combination with saunas. The real effect is in the brainwashing.

xenophobic 03-26-2004 03:06 PM

The scientology secret you pay the $$$ for, so you can be cleansed of murdered aliens:

Once upon a time (75 million years ago to be more precise) there was an alien galactic ruler named Xenu. Xenu was in charge of all the planets in this part of the galaxy including our own planet Earth, except in those days it was called Teegeeack.

Now Xenu had a problem. All of the 76 planets he controlled were overpopulated. Each planet had on average 178 billion people. He wanted to get rid of all the overpopulation so he had a plan.
Xenu took over complete control with the help of renegades to defeat the good people and the Loyal Officers. Then with the help of psychiatrists he called in billions of people for income tax inspections where they were instead given injections of alcohol and glycol mixed to paralyse them. Then they were put into space planes that looked exactly like DC8s (except they had rocket motors instead of propellers).

Scientology refers to job positions as hats, stemming from Hubbard's affection of naval life.

I agree, you need to read xenu.net carefully and then make your decisions

Rhino22 03-26-2004 03:10 PM

Well, The movie Battlefield: Earth was based on a book that the founder of Scientology wrote.

Travolta found the book fascinating and turned it into a movie. The movie sucked though.

TheGoldenChild 03-26-2004 03:11 PM

yeah I agree it's total bullshit-
I am trying to persuade someone to get their daughter out of their hands I think she needs to be de programmed...it's pretty much a cult.

I am interested in both Scientology and Science-Fiction, so it couldn't hurt to blow 90 minutes on it just for the novelty of having seen it any way.

Only because you're afraid of the truth.

Breathe deep. Relax. Open your eyes. Let the toxins within flee from your body.

In time, the truth will come to you.

That's not the Scientology way. :1orglaugh The Scientology way is shouting it to you over and over again until you "realize" it's true. Read up on their Auditing techniques if you don't believe me.

cluck 03-26-2004 03:20 PM

They're a dangerous cult. Anyone who would let their own children die of an easily treatable disease is clearly brainwashed. We need full scale war on them. Extermination is the only option :2 cents:

I don't believe in shouting. It's yet another toxin poisoning the people of today. I feel for you. And I feel for them.

you do know the creator was a nutcase - before they took him in to the nuthouse he escaped, lived on international waters on a battle ship for the rest of his life

scientology is based on aliens and them being responsible for human creation - the book says we are here because of them - and their souls (900 or so of them) hang on our bodies - then you must go to these 'clensing' sessions ($$$) in which each session removes one soul at a time

alot of famous people in Hollywood are into it - cuz they have no life other then their famous one - and become very insecure

tom cruise, john travolta to name a few

I think i'm going to go into Religon and make a fortune!

But on a serious note. If your friend has problams with drugs or something: put him in rehab. If it's something else save your money, go to the library and pick up some 'self help' books.

here is my experience with the fucking wierdos..

I used to work at a little coffee shop on campus in Austin texas back in 84 & 85. The scientology headquarters was few blocks away. They all frequented my coffee shop. I could always tell when the new recruits were around..they were like retarded Zombies that couldnt even order coffee for themselves.. they would have a "senior member" with them at all times.. talking for them..making their decisions on what they were eating that day. It was just flat out creepy to watch these folks being led around like zombies with ahook thru their nose. It was really fun when they tried to lay their line of shit on me.. a big 19 years old and i told them they are fucking brainwashing those folks.. my mind was way too strong for their bullshit washing techniques.. i asked them if they were up for a challenge..hahahahaha. They left me alone.. strong minded individuals need not apply...I hear the bible is quite good, but I would stay far far aways from the whole "church" worship thing..

we all have the ability to make our lives better.. we dont need someone else telling us how and holding out their hand at the same time expecting money in return..:2 cents:
