King of the Browsers

Amazing, Microsoft's Explorer is showing at 98.7% of the users on a server log I just checked.

No doubt ... nobody is gonna take 5 mins and install netscape if they don't know anything about it

Manowar 03-26-2004 11:28 AM

Mozilla Firefox is underrated, it needs some more publicity.

Best browser i have ever used :2 cents:

dropped9 03-26-2004 11:28 AM

Thats insane!

polish_aristocrat 03-26-2004 11:30 AM

Everyone's got Windows, everyone's got Explorer...

KRL 03-26-2004 11:32 AM

Most Popular Screen Sizes:

1024 x 768 61.45%

800 x 600 29.52%

1280 x 1024 4.17%

640 x 480 2.09%

1152 x 864 1.61%

1600 x 1200 0.98%

Looks like people are starting to drift away from 800 x 600 finally.

Opera is the best, you just have to customize the toolbars and such so that it takes less space. Here's my set-up:

Bigfuck 03-26-2004 11:38 AM

I use MSIE and Opera
Opera is much faster

No, IE can not do the same as Opera, and beyond that, IE is a piece of exploited shit.

I used to agree.. but 0.8 (the version they changed the name to firefox) is very unstable for me.

Firebird 0.7 was extremely fast, lightweight and I was very happy with it. I upgraded to 0.8 recently and the download manager is driving me nuts. It's very slow and it brings the entire browser to a crawl when I try to download anything. Including just saving a simple image. The whole thing as also frozen up on me a number of times and consumed insane ammounts of memory. It doesn't happen often but it happens.

I hope they fix this soon.. and I will never get used to the download manager.. I hope they do away with it.

I love tabbed browsers. Makes my life so much easier

dunefield 03-26-2004 01:09 PM

still design at 800x600 though...30% of those surfers hate to scroll sideways i'm sure :2 cents:

TheDoc 03-26-2004 01:39 PM

My IE is smaller :) And of course people write exploits for IE, it's the only browser that gets used so why write it for others.. Even though every major browser does have exploits.

Either way, my IE is fater than any opera browser. I have both, well, I have just about every browser and IE is still hands down the fastest and the least trouble with websites.

Opera is the best browser period. So many features I can't imagine living without.

The only problem I have with opera is that the gif animation never seems to go at the right speed. It's usually slower, sometimes warp speed, very seldomly perfect.

Not like that really matters to me though.

For e-mail opera is great too but I prefer ThunderBird :thumbsup

foolio 03-26-2004 01:45 PM

I have treod almost every type of browser - and those of you who think there is any real difference between any of them smoke too much crack.

DrGuile 03-26-2004 01:50 PM

My logs are showing 85-90% for IE.

a lot, but pretty different from yours

AnalProbe 03-26-2004 01:53 PM

Opera IS the best.

Period.

hershie 03-26-2004 01:59 PM

Glad I heard about Firefox on GFY last month. I'm loving it.

I concur.

TheDoc 03-26-2004 02:21 PM

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox.

While it has some nice features and is a very clean browser.

It does not read HTML correctly on many sites, does not play videos on many sites, and the download manager is very anoying.

Other than that, it's rather fast, and has some pretty cool features that don't slow it down any.

Pun 03-26-2004 02:36 PM

I just ran my stats because I was curious to see the % of each browser...

IE: 89.7
Netscape: 6.7
Mozilla: 2.4

The rest aren't even worth mentioning..
