No matter how hard I try, I cannot sleep a full 8 hours.

I get like 5-6 hours tops.

I remember as a kid after a hard week at school I could end up sleeping like 12 hours straight...LOL

KRL 03-24-2004 06:59 AM

If I sleep 8 hours I feel worse than if I had no sleep. Strange.

If you wake up refreshed, consider yourself lucky.

jhauser 03-24-2004 07:00 AM

I average about 6 hours a night. 8 no way too many things to do.

i was a chronic insomniac from age 4
being a mom i find now i can easily sleep a good 12 hours plus

mardigras 03-24-2004 07:05 AM

I usually sleep 4 or 5 hours at night and catch an afternoon nap for an hour or so most days. Breaking it up like that keeps me alert as needed:)

I used to do that, but I spent a few months working around the clock...and am now getting back to a somewhat normal pattern.

bluff 03-24-2004 07:11 AM

I sleep 8.5-9 hours a night. In weekends and holidays at least 10 hours

strobi 03-24-2004 07:11 AM

I'm back at sleeping less. Did 10 hours straight and was fucked up when I woke up. Now doing 6-7 hours and feel great!

=^..^= 03-24-2004 07:13 AM

im thinking about doing a kramer and just sleeping a few minutes every couple of hours :glugglug

Firehorse 03-24-2004 07:15 AM

LOL I wonder how long it would take before someone doing that to eventually flip out.

If anyone has odd sleeping habits or they snore then they should do a sleep study. My wife was complaining about my snoring for several months, but it wasn't until we were away and I was sharing the room with someone else that they told me that I was actually gasping for breath as well as snoring. Turns out that I have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) which means my airway muscles relax too much when I sleep, and eventually close completely. My brain wakes up my body to force the muscles to open again. This cycle can repeat several times per hour, I think the average from my last study was 80/hr (ie a blockage every 45 sec).

People with OSA never have a proper deep sleep so they usually feel pretty lousy. Weight can make it worse too, the only way that I can really control it is by losing some.

Worth considering.

hova 03-24-2004 07:27 AM

sleeping is overrated

Za Ha 03-24-2004 08:06 AM

I can go for 14hrs straight if I havent slept for a few days

I used to be like that, til I started walking about 2 miles a night, and now I sleep great. I am a little overweight, and once you get the blood flowing you will sleep better. Trust me it's from working in front of the computer all day long.

Ross 03-24-2004 08:45 AM

I can't sleep for one hour without waking up right now. I'm not feeling comfortable in my own bed anymore. I think too much at night about some shit that happened a couple of weeks ago...

I really need a good nights sleep!

That's what I do. I never can sleep at night, and never go to bed till like 3 or 4am. If I sleep 4 hours, thats alot. I usually end up sleeping during the day for a couple hours though.

badmunchkin 03-24-2004 08:47 AM

If I don't get at least 8 hours a night I feel like total shit all day - I don't know why - it's not like a subtle difference - it's like I feel 110% better with at least 8 hours of sleep. Anyways, to answer your question, start taking Valerian - that'll knock you out & without crazy side effects like Ambien and similar drugs.

too hard to sleep more then 8hrs due to the baby waking up. She rarely sleeps longer then 6-7hrs.

Ironhorse 03-24-2004 09:16 AM

It's taken me years and alot of work to finally regulate my sleep. The trick for me is working out 3 times a week and a very small thing actually: setting the alarm for 9am and just forcing myself to wake up at this time everyday even if I only get a few hours of sleep, the next night I fall asleep like a little baby :Graucho

herbalpaul 03-24-2004 09:21 AM

I've been sleeping about 4-6 hours lately during the week then I'll catch up and sleep 8-9 hours on the weekend. I can't really complain I usually wake up feeling pretty refreshed and awake.

runaway 03-24-2004 09:53 AM

Yeah can't sleep for too long nemore... around 6 hrs!

myjah 03-24-2004 10:29 AM

Now that I'm 8 months pregnant I can't sleep like I want to either. I am SOO tired when I go to bed but I'm up again in just a few hours...the insomnia is wearing me out

Lykos 03-25-2004 05:28 AM

That sucks:(

johnbosh 03-25-2004 05:29 AM

I wouldn't be concerned if you wake up feeling refreshed enough and you can function normally.

savas 03-25-2004 06:10 AM

i sleep from 6 to 10 hours.
if you don't sleep many hors wanna sleep more, than do some sport before sleeping. if you are siting before pc all day, than you are not using your body and you don't need to sleep.

erehwon 03-25-2004 08:20 AM

I feel really lucky if I can sleep more than seven hours a night, I don't think I am alone with the fact that since 9/11 I sleep less, and not all that restful. :(

eroswebmaster 03-25-2004 08:21 AM

I can take a valium before bed and be up in about 2 hours.

Basic_man 03-25-2004 08:21 AM

When you grow up, you need less hours of sleep!
