Wow.. That sucks. Did you ever try shopping around at other colleges for a school with a team and a full ride?

Nice! Any D-1 sports team is packed with athletes competing at a very high level. I can also see why the beach fucked things up. :1orglaugh

You never got recruited anywhere else?

Ya.. that surprises me. I had around 10 schools recruiting me for tennis. I was all packed and ready to go to University of Florida.. Luckilly I didn't because I blew my shoulder out in my freshman semester. 4 years later, I decide to come back and surprise.. I'm still able to compete. :thumbsup

I'm getting old though and my body is falling apart. Coaching is looking really good right about now. :1orglaugh

Alky 03-24-2004 04:24 AM

also was recruited to go to the univ of new orleans... i was scared though.. i probably wouldn't be living today.

Nah, I was burnt out on it halfway through high school. Now I miss it though. Opportunity lost.

hova 03-24-2004 04:27 AM

It's never too late if you're still in college. I came back after 4 years after a shoulder surgery and I haven't lost a step!

I dunno, I haven't been on skates in like 4 years, and I only have a year of college left, if I transferred I would lose too many credits. Quitting the sport is something I regret. Maybe catch a drop-in game over the summer.

Good luck with it man... I gave it a shot my Senior year and I'm glad I did.. I'd really regret it if I had just walked away. :(

Thanks. I probably couldn't even compete anymore though. I mean, there's kids in the NHL that are in their teens nowadays. They keep getting younger and better. :2 cents:

That's my feeling as well in regards to tennis. The players get younger and I keep getting older! :1orglaugh

I'm sure you'll hit the ice again sometime in leagues or whatnot. Just make sure you don't give it all up for good! :thumbsup

There's a huge collegiate league for snowboarding.

I've got instructing experience, and I'd love to instruct again for the right price :winkwink: I'm worth every penny.

Firehorse 03-24-2004 05:28 AM

This is the sport I'm trying to get into :Graucho
http://www.worldpokertour.com/images/wpt_logo.gif

That and maybe some sort of martial arts in the next few months.

Pun 03-24-2004 06:00 AM

Provided I can keep my training up how I'm aiming to, I'll be trying out for semi-pro football next season. I'm tired of people asking me why I don't play and I don't have a good excuse :)

bigdog 03-24-2004 06:15 AM

i am sure if you were a college standout star, you would want everyone to know you are pushing porn now

scoreman 03-24-2004 08:30 AM

Not sure if you consider playing pool a sport but I was the Nat'l Collegiate champion for pocket billiards in 1992.

If you were a collegiate standout star, I'm sure you'd be pro at this time (or at a previous time), and you wouldn't need to push porn. If a person has been pro, hopefully they invested wisely and made business connections in the outside world. :thumbsup
