Canada to acquire a Carribean Island?

They say that 90% of people in there would like to become Canada's 11th province. Why the heck not? Let's do it people. Who wouldn't like to live in a Caribbean island? Heck it'll still be Canada :)

FREDERICTON - It's a dream that just won't die - a Canadian paradise in the sun with sugar-sand beaches, crystal clear water, medicare and the loonie.

After failed attempts in the 1970s and 1980s to breathe life into the idea of a union between Canada and the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, the proposal is back, and this time it's supported by determined politicians and business people in both countries.

yeah, it would be great. kind of like the US and Hawaii. i looked into it, and it sounds like it's a long way off in reality.

TweetyBird 03-23-2004 04:41 AM

hehe, I'll believe it when I'll see it :)

BradM 03-23-2004 04:44 AM

Will never happen.
Quebec will seperate before we see that a reality.

But would be nice if it happened. Hello intercontinental cheap ass flights.

slackologist 03-23-2004 04:49 AM

Sounds like a great idea, hope it happens.

Roger 03-23-2004 04:50 AM

It better happen. I don't see why any Canadian would be opposed to this.

The tax money they will have to fork out is one good reason.

But then who cares, to give the politicians somewhere warm to visit in the winter let's spare no expense.

No it's not, it's a great investment. Besides, some Canadians instead of spending there vacation money in Mexico, Cuba and Florida will be spending it in a Canadian province instead. It benefits everyone.

i would buy up some property there in a second. but like i said, doesn't sound like it will happen any time soon (ie: next 10 years).

Burtman 03-23-2004 05:00 AM

Turks and Caicos looks nice, a friend and I were interested in buying some property down there when they first started to open things up. Beach front was dirt cheap at the time, it's a shame we never followed through on it.

If this works out, it's gonna rock.
