are adult paysites dying?

I'm seeing more and more webmasters diversifying into: webcam sites, dating sites, selling pills and many other ventures.. and it seems to me like the "hardcore paysite" industry isn't what it used to be because of the likes of ashcr0ft, accaccia, and dying processors.
Is this true?

Change does not equal death.

Hardcore porn gets boring after a while. The average surfer is getting more sophisticated. Webcam is the future - interctivity is the key to $$$ :Graucho

Diversification is always good in any business.
There is just lots more competition in adult paysites.

If they are adding things to their business portfolio that means what they are doing is a success, they are just expanding. If they are closing down their paysites to move into different areas thens their paysite was not working.

I think you will find most are expanding.

game over

xxxjay 03-22-2004 10:49 PM

this thread is so stupid - i need to set this straight - the reasons that people are diversifying is because porn sites have the highest changebacks

when you have a number of other things with a lower changeback ratio it will pull the rest of your stuff back under the 1% threshold

venus 03-22-2004 10:55 PM

this may have been true in 1997 when I started doing webcam, but its not any more.

anyone who has over a 1% chargeback ratio is not an honest business person.

Its not that adult sites have allot of chargebacks because they are adult sites, its because the people running them are making it hard for customers to cancel, rebilling customers who ask not to be, doing that multiple signup crap,- when they have to UNCHECK a box not to join several sites and telling someone they will not be charged and then charging them anyways.

BULLSHIT ALARM, I think they also PUT some SILICONE in your BRAINS.

Surfers do not CHARGE back because they got FOOLED, they charge back BECAUSE THEY CAN. Dating and PIlls get promoted because bank will process THEM. In a short time THERE will be no bank LEFT processing adult sites, GET OUT while you can.

PLEASE do not reply to this, BIMBO.

customers also charge back because a small percentage of them are chargeback artists and cc thieves.

adult paysites are definitely not dying.

Ash@phpFX 03-23-2004 01:13 AM

things are evolving, but paysites are far from dead. paysites are changing though, the large mega sites are the past, smaller single girl or focused niche type sites are the present, and who knows what will be the future, but it will definately be geared towards interactivity and more movies rather than pictures. There will be big advancements in technology that will allow paysite owners to offer more targeted content in the future, and also markey upsells and the like better.

the short answer: NO!

Mr. Marks 03-23-2004 01:59 AM

I don't think porn will ever die. They just resort to those sites to make the most out of their traffic.
