Flying Lessons?
After reading a few threads about planes, I'm curious what the path to learning to fly is.
What are approximate costs? How long does it take to be able to fly alone? 2 years? Is there somewhere I can read about it? I do have a local airport. |
Well as far as costs go you have to take classes for ground school, they are usually offered at junior colleges somewhere around you. As far as cost goes your probably looking at around 600-800 for written, then you have to build up 40 hours if i remember my brother correctly.
Each hour entails renting the plane by the hour and depending on the plane, age, etc.... usually a smaller cessna goes for around 50-75hr then you have to pay for the flight instructor which costs you another $35-50/hr. All in all I would say 3500 - 4500 dollars. |
Go take them for this prize it's worth it. I might go take some in a couple of years too.

I don't know if this will help or not but I remember seeing commercials for it all of the time.

Please take those landing lessons as well. :winkwink:

its not hard and if you can take 3 two hour lessons a week you'll be done in no time
after you're signed off to solo, the rest of the time is up to you, you wont be working around the instructor's schedule i bought a plane before I started taking lessons, cost me about $18 an hour for fuel, instructor was $25 an hour, had to buy a headset and some other needed things. After i got signed off to fly solo, i flew almost daily... cause i owned the plane and could go whenever i wanted as long as the weather wasnt bad |
