The Chairman of the Board

rocks....

long live Frank.

gornyhuy 03-21-2004 04:14 PM

I was just going to post a God Bless Frank Sinatra thread last night, but I figured I'd get booed off the board.

Love that stuff. :thumbsup

gornyhuy 03-21-2004 04:14 PM

Ever notice that people on the radio who really love Frank always insist on calling him "Francis Albert Sinatra"? That cracks me up. Same thing with Elvis Aaron Presley.

He did it his way..

Sinatras Greatest Hits is a must have double album

gornyhuy 03-21-2004 04:21 PM

There are these infomercials for the best of the Dean Martin show videos... I could sit and watch just the infomercials for hours... the clips they show are so fucking classic and most of the time hilarious.

I had the pleasure of seeing him in Vegas back around 1989..amazing the tickets were only $40 we got great seats and a couple bottle of champagne...shit tickets for a legend like that would be well over $300 a night here now.

COME ON JUICY!!!!

You are NOT a real guido if you don't have a heavy sense of worship for Frank.

CDSmith 03-21-2004 05:46 PM

Sinatra rules.

I'm a sucker for his movies too. he did some great ones back in the day, some good war movies too.

Best singer of all time! :thumbsup

Sinatra never gets old. You're either cool or you're not and Frank remained cool right through until the end, something most rockers won't be able to do.

The Summer Wind is my favorite Sinatra song.

One for my baby and one more for the road ........

Ryan's Express...so many movies...so many songs..

What a voice!

Cheers to the best....

hova 03-22-2004 05:54 AM

I am just listening to "when I was seventeen"..........I love that song!!! Frank is the king

Raven 03-22-2004 05:56 AM

Did he ever win an Oscar? I can't remember.

What was the movie with Tony Bill...who plays his younger brother and runs away from home...damn...

Every time Frank's father sees him, he asks Frank if he's married and calls him a bum..

Frank plays a playboy in that one...

Is it Come Blow Your Horn?

Shit. This is what I get for waking up at 4 a.m.

Looks like he did in fact win one Oscar......

Quote:

Like other singers who also had movie careers -- Elvis, Patti Page, Sting, Mick Jagger -- Frank Sinatra is known more for his singing than his movies. And why not, when you're talking about one of the great voices of all time? But looking at his movie career all by itself -- more than 60 films, a Best Supporting Actor Oscar, another nomination for Best Actor, a Hersholt Award, 3 Golden Globes (including the DeMille Award), and a Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award, in a career spanning six decades -- he certainly deserves to be viewed as a movie star!
:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

At the 1954 Oscars, Frank did in fact win for best supporting actor for his role in the '53 movie "From here to eternity"

good to see some Sinatra fans here..... wasn't sure when I posted this, but good to see nonetheless. :)

gornyhuy 03-22-2004 08:06 PM

Okay, lets see what we're dealing with here.

Do you guys like Frank because he is Frank, or do you like the rest of the genre as well?

like the rest of the rat pack? Mel Torme? Billy Holiday? Ella Fitzgerald? Louis Armstrong? Do you branch out into bebop and swing instrumentals???

Just wondering.

stevecore 03-22-2004 08:07 PM

frank is the ultimate panty dropper.
