anyone eat at red lobster

I was thinking of going there and was wondering whats great. Also is it an expensive restaurant or is it well worth it

detoxed 03-21-2004 12:21 PM

LOL, its like an everyday restaurant, not a black tie place

Oracle Porn 03-21-2004 12:22 PM

expensive is the last thing it is.

sickkittens 03-21-2004 12:22 PM

I've heard bad things about that place. :2 cents:

synergysex 03-21-2004 12:24 PM

Its OK and not that expensive. I eat there probably twice a month or so.

I like thier Mainlander's Chicken Salad. I get tired of seafood all the time and thats what I switch to. Either the salad or something with (of course) lobster in it.

AdultNex 03-21-2004 12:26 PM

You've never eaten at Red Lobster?!?

It's ok, but it's just overrated.

BVF 03-21-2004 12:28 PM

I remember when I was a little kid how Red Lobster used to be somewhat exclusive. But now they have watered the restaurant down to appeal to the poor masses so they serve rubbery lobster..I didn't even know it was rubbery until I ate Lobster in two different caribbean islands and realized what lobster was supposed to taste like.

Their salmon is good though...

But red lobster is a cheapie restaurant these days.

riosluts 03-21-2004 12:28 PM

What other place would u guys recommend. How is The Olive Garden or Outback Steakhouse

nathan_f 03-21-2004 12:28 PM

Gross. I dont know when the last time I ate something that came out of water was.

To me, shrimp, crabs, all those things, are big fucking bugs that live underwater.

Yeah, but I would say it's expensive considering the quality. Sorta like the Olive Garden of Seafood, they heat up Gorton's Fisherman and bring them to your table for 300% markup. I also heard RL was doing away with a lot of their "all you can eat" fried mystery crustaceans.

It's a chain, one step above fast food. I rarely go there unless I'm taking some one out to dinner and that's where they want to go.

Try going to some of your local, family owned establishments. The food is almost always better and cheaper. If you have casinos nearby, the resturants there are usually good but often pricey. Belive it or not, most bars have very good food.

Outback has okay appetizers. Bloomin onion and bacon cheddar cheese fries.

Everything at Olive Garden makes me sick. If you want good Italian food, avoid the chains. If you want a good steak, the chains usually do a pretty good job.

i love outback !!!

dirtysouth 03-21-2004 12:38 PM

Just had a 1/2 pound of gulf shrimp & a 1/2 pound of crab claws at Wintzell's Oyster House. Gulf Coast living! :thumbsup

PatrickKing 03-21-2004 12:40 PM

Chain restaurants..:throwup

Rob 03-21-2004 12:41 PM

The Red Lobster is total overpriced garbage! Its owned by the same company that also owns Olive Garden so you can see why the comparisons have merit. In my opinion, RL is over priced and not very good quality seafood. Very low end on the seafood spectrum. :2 cents:

DirtySouth, you gotta love this Gulf Coast dining! :thumbsup Everything is in abundance, great prices, and all around excellent! :thumbsup

Easton 03-21-2004 12:43 PM

Red Lobster closed down in Quebec many years ago :(

and we still don't have Taco Bell either...

gee i wonder why nobody wants to live here anymore???

riosluts 03-21-2004 12:45 PM

Yeah what i've noticed is taht usually Olive Garden is very close to a Red Lobster. Umm how about Swiss Chalet hows that place

Red Lobster is shit and over priced. I have no clue why i went but the last time i did the mashed potatos were from a box and tasted like cardboard. I will never eat at that crappy place again!

:ak47: Red Lobster

strobi 03-21-2004 12:46 PM

those we have... they're ok, but usually it's only fast food style since here they are inside Harvey's restaurants (a burger chain)

why not just go to the cheesecake factory?

riosluts 03-21-2004 12:48 PM

I heard that a lobster with crab is like $25 and its enough for 1 person. This is in canadian dollars

Depends on what your interpretation of "normal sized" lobster. To me a normal sized lobster is 1.5lbs and it really depends on the market value at the time. I haven't had lobster in quite some time. I'm not really into bugs of the sea like shrimp and lobster. The last time I ate lobster it was going for $36.25 kg.

riosluts 03-21-2004 12:54 PM

Well i dont wanna spend $100 for a meal no matter how good it is

I have not eaten at a Red Lobster in 10+ years, but back then it was good, and you could feed 4, with wine for $100

Head 03-21-2004 01:12 PM

I was at one last week with my GF and her Mother and we eat well for about a $110. That's with two beers, tip and meals.

riosluts 03-21-2004 01:17 PM

So do you think it was worth $110. What did you order exactly

Turboface 03-21-2004 01:18 PM

We go to Red Lobster a few times a month. I get the same thing everytime I go: The Ultimate Feast. Trust me, you can't go wrong with that.

:2 cents:

BVF 03-21-2004 01:18 PM

If you want REAL seafood, try a legal seafood restaurant. I go to the one on K street in DC and it's my favorite seafood restaurant by far.

LOVE Legal's! I go there every time I travel back east.

Strobi, where are you getting your $200 lobster? Legal's is not what I'd call "fancy", but definitely upscale (esp compared with Red Lobster!), and you can get enough lobster there to feed 4-5 people for $200!

mardigras 03-21-2004 01:49 PM

At Outback I like to "ala carte" a meal.

2 shrimp on the barbi appetizers as main entree

salad

potato (side order of grilled onions and mushrooms to go with that)

With the darkbread they serve all of that makes a good stuffing meal and not that expensive.

shermo 03-21-2004 01:51 PM

I just go to Red Lobster for their free cheese biscuits. Load up on those badboys and take off! :thumbsup

dicknixon 03-21-2004 01:57 PM

If you want to get king crab legs . .this is the place. . more expensive places give you less of a homogenous product . . if you go to red lobster . . you should only get the king crab legs . if not go somewhere else.

Here in South Jersey, it's like $22.

How much does it feed? One hungry webmaster.

The Outback Steakhouse is pretty good, but kinda expensive, however you'll usually walk outta there with a full stomache. The blooming onions are excellent :)

axelcat 03-21-2004 02:10 PM

not good
