What is your recommendation for a credit card processor

...for mainstream and why?

1...Who recommends a Merchant Account instead of a processor and why?

2...Is it over 1% chargebacks or 2% chargebacks with the processors when they cancel you?

3...Will the same apply to a Merchant Account?

4...Is a refund basically considered as a charge back now?

5...What is the general punitive fee that the processor charges you for a charge back now?

6...Does the same fee apply to a refund?

7...Will these fees apply to a Merchant Account now?

Input please.

I suppose I could contact them to get some questions answered but I do not think I would want either as a processor...as I have heard far to many complaints about both...justified or not.

Yeah and for high risk merchant accounts you need processing of $100,000 a month to go through netbilling.

For mainstream never had a problem with Card Service International ( http://www.cardservicewbs.com/ )

Why? A friend told me to use them and took his advice. :)

I have a card service Intl. account. At first I was asked to submit transaction documentation for random transactions, but only for the fact a few of my transactions were higher than my projections given to the bank. Was very little headache, and I believe they offer the same fee schedule to every merchant regarless of transaction volume.

If I am reading this right, Card Service Intl. does limit your sale volume in a given month depending on the information you provided. A phone call and a fax clears up any problem. :)

For mainstream get your merchant account through Card Service and use Netbilling's gateway. Great combo!!

No way would I pay the "normal" CCBill or iBill fees for any mainstream project. The only reason they get the rates they do is because they're processing for "high-risk." You can get a regular merchant account through the bank where you do your commercial banking. You might look into Netbilling as well, as they can probably cut you a decent deal for non-adult transactions as well.

There are lots of choices for mainstream, including recurring, that just don't exist in the adult world so don't limit yourself.
