Heads UP!! 50,000 PC's destroyed by Witty Worm today!
If you use a firewall from Black Ice or Real Secure then you better disable it. This aint no email virus; it breaks through these firewalls and tricks them into killing your harddrive to the point where the PC has to be rebuilt. No shit!
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...1310_2004mar20 I would disable any firewall right now because these two may just be the initial ones affected. |
That really, really sucks. Glad my servers run Linux.
|
Damn ! thats a nasty one
|
holy. this is like the second virus i heard of that does permanent damage just like CIH 95. DO you guys remember that virus. on the 26th if flashes your bios

thanks for the H.U. :glugglug

BTW: I just have no concept of why people want to spread a virus or worm. It just seems like the internet is like walking down the street and waiting to get shot.
I guess people will not be happy until the internet is ruined. Porn cheaters ruined billing, traffic trading, gallery posting, paypal etc...etc...etc... Spammers ruined email and message boards... Humans simply will not be satisfied until we destroy everthing on earth incuding ourselves. |
This fucking sucks!
Thank God I don't have Black ice. My cisco system "hardware router is all I need" btw I can see this thread posting about 5-6 times by mid afternoon tomorrow |

Firewalls are more hype than protection anyway, they're like car alarms...the shit keep going off but shit aint really happening. |

and I don't agree firewalls are all hype they close all my open ports and protect me from trojans:321GFY |

If you don't want the news then fucking go jump off a fucking bridge and shoot your fucking self in the head. You are the motivation for people who write viruses and commiting terrorism. Always running your fucking mouth until people get sick enough to fuck you up and everything standing next to you. STFU! |
Get a 40 dollar router with a built in firewall.. not the best security but better then any of those shitty software firewalls.

How does this thing spread if it renders computers useless?
I'm confused how it can be sent to so many computers if it can't be resent from a dead computer? |
It's times like this I'm glad I have a Macintosh. Their tiny market share makes Macs a less attractive target. Plus I think the hackers like to piss off Bill Gates.

This is not a very smart move. A firewall protects you from 100's of viruses and to switch other firewalls off just because you might be affected by one would be simply stupid. A virus that destroys the system is by far not as scary as the not detected trojan who transmits all my sensitive data over the net. One can be easily restored by a backup the other cannot be fixed. |

You are quite right, which was what I was sarcasticly pointing out when he reccomended shutting down your firewall, but this thick as shit fuckface was too stupid to see it. I got called mr taliban. I hope the jackass gets a virus tomorrow that totally trashes his pc, he wont be able come back and start making crackpot fucking smartass remarks again.:321GFY |
