lost in translation

people who make great movies like this, only to completely kill the movie with a shitty ending should be shot, not rewarded.

Wondering what he whispered in her ear is driving you nuts, huh?

yeah, and the captions were no fucking help either.

I thought it was awesome end to end. Bill Murray is probably one of the most underrated actors around. Granted, I never want to visit Japan now, but the movie was awesome.

I agree. Oscar for the shittiest ending ever...

SABAI 03-22-2004 09:57 PM

funny how people who are not clever enough to understand things that are not S-P-E-L-L-E-D directly for them to understand have a tendency to criticize the movie or the director on behalf of their own stupidity or lack of culture / education.

yes i know , the truth hurts sometimes :winkwink:

Rorschach 03-22-2004 10:00 PM

I thought the ending was fantastic... what he says to her only ever stays between them, it's beautiful. In the greater perspective what he says isn't even that meaningful to the viewer - it's the act of parting that matters, and that knowledge that they've shared something extraordinary, and have to go back to their old lives and will probably never see each other again.

I love how morons who "think" they know jack always try come off like they've achieved some sort of a secret higher level of understanding of things such as this clearly bullshit non ending... yet NEVER provide their theory, and instead resort to having to step off their plateau of enlightenment just long enough to drop a grade school insult.

That was frustrating

Sappy 03-22-2004 10:34 PM

I think it was a great ending. What could he have said that would've made the ending better?

They end a movie so the viewer can use their imagination and think of of their own ending. However some need it laid out on a plate, they find thinking for themselves hard. Yes the truth hurts sometimes.

hottoddy 03-22-2004 10:41 PM

It's a very good "slice of life" movie with no real major points to make. And no, you're not supposed to know what he says at the ending. But I think it was, "If you weren't married, I would have fucked up the ass rather than that skanky red-headed bar singer."

Bansheelinks 03-22-2004 10:46 PM

PS

Scarlett Johansson has a great ass!

i've got a million of my own ideas for what he COULD have said...
so if that's the fucking goal... bravo.. but it's still fucking stupid.

people (or at least us lower rung monkeys) like closure with their movies.
this one offered none.

unless of course that sneaky cunt is gonna make Lost in Translation 2 and cash in on all the suspense.

Pretty good tits too. I hope the intro ass wasn't a stand-in, but don't think so because you also see it at other points in the move.

And people who could not close the movie for themselves will flock to see it.

You don't know what they said, but judging by their reactions, it was clear they were agreeing to a future rendez-vous....as it should be.

I didn't think so... I thought it was implied that they would never see each other again.

quiet 03-22-2004 11:10 PM

great film, great ending worthy of the rest of the film.

I don't know about that Rorschach..........Charlotte looked very happy walking off camera in that last shot. I don't think she would have been so happy if it was implied it was completely over.

alan-l 03-23-2004 01:11 AM

nice movie

NoCarrier 03-23-2004 01:16 AM

Bill Murray whispered

"The Truth Hurts should go back to action movies and STFU".

I have the official script here. Sofia was right.

pimplink 03-23-2004 01:23 AM

I think I'm a little lost here. What movie?

BigFrog 03-23-2004 01:26 AM

i dont know all of what was said, but im pretty sure the 1st thing he whispered in her ear was 'don't worry'.
as for the rest, im content to use my imagination....the ending was fitting to me and i absolutely loved the movie. something about that movie stirred up feelings in me that go along with those summer flings i had when i was younger, and im sure others know what im talking about.....
and any movie that can move you is definately a great movie.

Are you retarded?

i liked it.. :thumbsup

rabbit 03-23-2004 09:48 AM

if you were expecting a different ending than what you got, you're obviously too brainwashed by the typical hollywood crap. i loved the ending, it was actually obvious nothing would have happened between them when they didn't sleep together when watching the movie.

radical 03-23-2004 09:55 AM

Not even seen it yet :(
