Pretty soon.. I have 3 hours in of the 40-50 average
that I will need to be licensed.

I 'took off' for the first time today by myself
but with my instructor.

These planes costs $72 an hour to rent, shit.. I rather
buy one.. the one I am renting was made in 1981.

Same look, just older..

casinobiz 03-20-2004 10:03 PM

What are you selling?

Firehorse 03-20-2004 10:04 PM

Nice! I have to make some time to get my pilot's licence too, I have to find me a nice chopper. :)

steve90 03-20-2004 10:04 PM

isnt a cesna more then that ?

Axeman 03-20-2004 10:05 PM

I would love to learn how to fly a plane. Would be a sweet hobby.

=^..^= 03-20-2004 10:05 PM

I flew a cessna once, pretty fun though after flying in a chopper over vegas - I have yo agree with FH that chopper is the way to go.

Wouldn't be better to just buy a nice Cessna 150 with a fresh annual for about $30K?

As a new pilot, you are more likely to trash that new bird until you get some quality hours under your belt. :thumbsup

Illicit 03-21-2004 01:40 AM

$175,000 to kill yourself when you crash it ?

Mr Pheer 03-21-2004 01:50 AM

I sold three planes last year, including this one

how long is your paking lot? got 1000 feet with no buildings, trees, or power lines on the ends? oh yeah cant have parked cars in the way either

this plane likes to be landed fast... its listed stall speed was 45mph but its very hard to slow it down to that speed when you got it pointed down because its got such clean aerodynamics... i usually brought it in at 70mph and hold it in ground effect until it settled

one time i brought it in at 150mph cause i thought the guy flying with me was going to try to climb out, he was so fuckin scared

A chopper would be easier to land in a built up area! :Graucho

nothing really, just caught a crosswind gust on takeoff and he didnt like how much it affected the plane, he decided he wanted out, and wanted out right now, started screaming in spanish (he was from argentina) and i thought that if i didnt get us back down right away, he was going to kill both of us

Unfortunately, I get the same way in planes.

I absolutely detest flying. I'll do it, but I hate it.

I'm afraid it'll get worse as I get older too.

I believe it has something to do with your level of control & trust.

When you're a little kid, it's like magic. You get in and you fly!

You grow up and you realize that this fucking huge piece of machinery with 250 human lives inside of it is being controlled by 1-3 men who are average joes with marriage issues, alcohol problems, emotional problems, sleeping with the hostess etc.

I'm straight white knuckle from take-off to landing.

Didn't say I'd buy a 150 $30K, sure there are plenty of them selling for less than $12K, just none of them I'd fly in. :)

I went up with my dad's friend once, was a test pilot for boeing and owns a couple planes. Only thing he did that scared the shit out of me was to put it in a couple oof controlled stalls. I knew he was experienced - but goddamn, those warning sirens still freaked me the fuck out :1orglaugh
same thing though now - can look back and laugh.

Trax 03-21-2004 04:22 AM

Lykos 03-21-2004 05:10 AM

J.R. 03-21-2004 08:48 AM

Would you buy a 150 ?

I want an IFR plane.. I plan on becoming an airline pilot
within 2 to 2 1/2 years so I need a plane that is
instrument rated until I reach my ME certs.

Since I need 1500 hours not to mention 250 of multi, a plane
of my own would be best suited.

Yesterday rocked, I did kick ass on my 45' degree turns
at about 5000 ft.

I am going up today, more takeoffs and landings.. now that
is crazy shit there.. it's all about easing the plane down
just as its about to stall 1-3 ft. above the runway.

I am sure I will be 'nervous' but I cannot wait to do it.

My airport is Class C, its kinda of fun to be landing with
a Southwest Jet and in the same patterns.. :-)

Kicker 03-21-2004 08:55 AM

The paniced guy is sitting ^that close to you.

I bet you could be the best pilot in the world, but if the guy is in some panic screaming in his native tongue (did he understand english so you could explain the crosswind gust thing??)

-- oh man... now that's scary and dangerous.

raceman 03-21-2004 09:34 AM

I love planes to but with the moe to the Isle of Man Ive decided to buy a helicopter. Got my eyes on a Hughes 500 which I gonna test fly next week (weather permitting) dollar against the pound right now I'm gonna be getting a nice aircraft for the money.

The guy selling it to me will include all the leasons in the price which siuts me.

I'll post some pic's once Ive got it.

:thumbsup

Helicopters are so fucking cool, its a classy way to travel

Head 03-21-2004 09:50 AM

Sweet!!

raceman 03-21-2004 10:02 AM

Yeah Hova, but dont forget I race evey other weekend and test mid week so this is gonna be the best way for me to get back and forth from the Island.

Plus its probably the best way of turning up at a race track, not that I am that much of a poser "he he he he he"

:thumbsup

Heh, it seemed like a nice cheap alternative to spending $175K

When I am in the market for a plane, call me insane but a Stearman is at the top of the list.

http://www.airforcebase.net/flights/n2s4002.JPG

I think learning the extra skill of landing a tail-dragger is worthwhile, like learning to drive a manual transmission.

Shit man, for $72 an hour I'm renting this mofo to Phoenix. Even comes with a chauffeur so I don't have to fly it. Bet it's comfier than that Cessna. A couple hundred other people went in on the deal too.
