Jeff Buckley was a Musical Genius
I just got the 2 disc version of Live at Sin-E (+ includes a bonus DVD) and am listening to it now. Jeff was a musical genius - I'm just blown away by these recordings. Anyone who loved Grace, you should get this CD set - it was recorded right after he signed his record deal and just shows his limitless talent and virtuosity. It's just raw - him singing solo with his guitar - but the passion he puts into his music is fucking amazing. And I think it's a lot better then the Mystery White Boy recordings as well. Just wanted to share. If you don't know who Buckley is, you should start with Grace. If you're a hippity-hopper, probably don't bother. You just won't get it.

I miss him too.

I have all his cd's, live performances, probably about 75 mp3's and im reading a book about him atm.
He's one of the best artists ever. |
You know he got signed for 3 records plus 100k upfront while he didnt have anything yet but a lousy 4 track solo demo.
It was 1 year later before Grace was recorded and that he found a band to play with. They knew basically nothing about him, he was discovered by playing in Sin-e every week. http://www.alwaysontherun.net/jeffp2.jpg http://aubry.free.fr/buckley21.jpg Hey Badmunchkin, do you know the song Forget her? If not then download it. It was supposed to be the first single from the Grace album but at the last moment Jeff didnt want to release it. Its an awesome song. |
We had a chance to takeover his old apartment in Manhattan a few years back. My girl's best friend was part of his management team and had been living in the place since Jeff's death.
Now I'm listening to Grace. God I love that voice. |

Q Magazine in Britain rated Grace one of the top 25 records of all time, and up to then had never heard of him, but with such a huge recomendation from Q, I had to buy it and it's awesome.

NOT I worked with that Jack ass way over Fucking Rated
|
I always heard good things about Mr. Buckley, but never listened to him. I will fire up Rhapsody and listen.
My genius is Mr. Jack White of the White Stripes. Best damn shit ever. Stripped down and raw! I had been listening to House and Trance for the past 5 years because all rock went to pooh, then I heard some White Stripes and rock is back baby! Album De Stijl is absolutely phenomenal. |

I think he was just aloof - that's how he comes across in video performances and interviews. Unfortunately, in music, the cream doesn't usually rise to the top. So yea, he might never have achieved the status & popularity of someone like ummmm... P Diddy. Doesn't mean he wasn't brilliant in his abilities. The singer from Coldplay has admitted that everytime he sings he's trying to channel Buckley - too bad he's a third-rate imitation. Don't get me wrong, I like Coldplay strictly as a pop act - but there's innovators and imitators and whatever you want to say about Jeff Buckley - you can't deny that he was totally his own creation. :2 cents: |
Mmmmm -- what a sexy femmey motherfucker!! Thanks for the pics!
I made a pilgrimage to Memphis to see the river that took him . . . well, and in honor of Elvis too. Hehehe. |

it's a pit he's not here anymore
|
Not familiar with his stuff. I just did some reading about him. How does his dad's music (Tim Buckley) compare to Jeff's stuff?
