Sounds like you've got a bad bank or a low balance. A good bank pays you interest.

Digipimp 03-20-2004 09:13 AM

They suck that's why.

My balance is higher than most Americans....
I use wachovia and wamu

It's a supply and demand issue.

They know that there arn't many options out there available to webmasters right now so they jack up the prices & fees on everything. It's just business really - but sounds fucked up to me. If you arn't getting ripped off by somebody in this business your getting taken advantage of - WTF???

I was considering using them as an alternative to Paypal - but looking at all the fees associated with them - they can fuck off!

:thumbsup

Epassporte Rocks! :thumbsup

jact 03-20-2004 01:20 PM

Their fees are likely based upon the fact they have a smaller customer base and have to cover expenses. I'm sure if they had hundreds of thousands if not millions of customers, they could knock a percentage point off of their fees (Though I doubt they would to be honest).

I have an ePassporte account (Personal), but I'm not really too fond of their system and I'm not too keen on putting any money in their control, not because of fees though.

Can't beat the $0.25 p2p transfer, and the peace of mind of not having your account shut down for making adult transactions like Paypal

Gee Dean, nice to see you bitching about us, and not having your facts straight.

ePassporte fees are the same as they have been from day 1. NOTHING, I'll repeat it, NOTHING, has been increased at all -- personally I don't really care what Paypal does or how much they charge, if people want to take their chances on using Paypal they are more than welcome to do so.

There is no one solution that will work for everyone, if you think the fees with ePassporte are too high, I'd suggest you look at the fees for third party processing or perhaps consider finding your own merchant account to process through... it won't be any cheaper by the time you factor in customer service and so on for the merchant account in 95% of cases.

We're not a discount brokerage, we are a payment processing service. If you choose to use ePassporte, then you are choosing to use a system that is reliable, run by people you know, and has no problem with adult content or sales processing.

How hard is it?

sperbonzo 03-21-2004 02:53 PM

You may also want to look at Duocash as an addiltional way to process transactions along with your credit card processor.

We enable pre-paid phone cards to be used, which means that we have nothing to do with VISA/MC and we are NOT subject to the credit card association regulations.

We are not looking to be a replacement for credit cards, but rather an anonymous, additional method to get customers who might otherwise not want, or be able, to give CC# to adult sites.
Our system also works very well for micropayments as there is no per transaction fee of 15 to 50 cents like CC transactions.

Perhaps you may want to take a look at Duocash

http://www.duocash.com/merchants.jsp

We are not in the business of selling phone cards. The problem with earlier business models has been distribution of proprietary cards. The retailers won?t stock the cards if the customers aren?t asking for them. The consumers aren?t aware of the cards if they aren?t on retailers shelves. It?s a chicken and egg type of issue.

In our case, we have done something different. We are taking a product that is ALREADY on the shelves, in distribution online, and in call centers. We are enabling the existing phone cards that are already on the market and being distributed, to be used by consumers to purchase digital content on the internet. This also avoids the issue of a single-use card that won?t be carried by retailers and distributors because of perception problems associated with a card that is specific to adult, gaming, etc?

We are putting together some VERY large deals that will be implemented in the next 60 days or so that will put us all over the US and Canada, and we are in discussions to expand to Australia and the EU.

You can contact me on my mobile or my email at any time for any questions you might have

Our fees are based on what it costs us to set up accounts and to allow credit card loading of accounts. Those of you who receive money via credit card sales understand that the bank, the Visa folks, etc all get a piece of every transaction. ePassporte is no different in that respect, we pay Visa, interchange and the banks for every load, every card number issued, etc.

If someone wanted to use ePassporte for business, they wouldn't be loading it with a credit card anyway, since business accounts are all funded via bank wire and there are no percentages on those transactions, just what the banks charge for the wires. :)

the fees sucks, but they are damn handy:D

I have 2 Visa Electron cards from 2 different banks with absolutely no anual fee...they just give the cards for free and with a 0 anual fee. Not saying you should do the same, but 35$/year is a bid high. They make you pay for the real "embossed" VISA /MASTERCARD, but Electrons are free..

We don't give the cards for free because they aren't free to us. This is not a case where we would make it up on volume ;)

StuartD 03-21-2004 03:32 PM

a lot of broke ass webmasters if you gotta complain about a $5 fee.

If you want to nickle and dime everything, then that means working with people who can't afford to pay their own bills and will be shutting down soon, taking your money with them.

I am getting sick of listening to webmasters complain about a few bucks and then can't figure out why they got really crappy quality or the company they were working with shuts down.

You can only go so cheap folks, before you start to realize, you get what you pay for.
