paypal and cibc or any other bank
 

I have a savings account at CIBC and just tried to add my paypal to it. I tried it before and paypal sent me an email saying it didn't work, thats b/c i screwed up. This time it said it did go through, but my bank says they use a different 'system' then cibc and you won't be able to do a direct deposit.

Paypal seems to be able to take out money no problem from my VISA. Just can't deposit to my savings account from the what the person that works at cibc told me.

Anyone here have a CIBC account that works with paypal? Maybe TDCanadaTrust works for you? Either way, any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I have one with IntesaBCI - never had a problem transferring money in it.
Are you sure you've put all the correct codes? Did you confirm with the girl at the branch that the numbers are correctly put in? Bank number/branch number/ and account number?

CIBC has one of the most avant-garde banking systems, I highly doubt they can't take an incoming transfer from paypal (unless they are blocking it in order to promote their own email payment system)

Never had a problem with TD, you sure you got the right #'s entered?

My CIBC Line of Credit account and Chequing account both work fine with PayPal, and the LOC account is considered a savings acc't for their purposes so....

Could be that you just can't add a savings account.

I had a problem like that also. Then i went to my bank TD and asked for my account info so someone can deposit money and they gave me all the info I needed. You might need a routing number, im not sure.

Thanks for the info guys. It might be the savings thing, but i will call them to ask them if i change my account from savings to Chequing will it work...???

Hmm i have a bank card at TD but its not active since i only got it so i can do online banking for my TD visa. Right now i'm just thinking of giving TD a try.

Oh and yes i did put all the correct info. This was my second time trying, the 1st time i messed up the institution # and got an email form paypal saying it didn't work. Now i got an email from paypal saying it did work and that was on the 12th.

Hmm could this mean i might have problems with wire transfers?

if your paypal account is set as canadian, your cibc account must be in canadian dollars. i tried to link to my u.s. dollar account and paypal deposits wouldn't go through.

The chequing/savings account problem would arise if you're trying to make a payment - not for a deposit.

It should take about 2-3 days for the deposit to go through.

Make sure you are reading the info correctly-
Transit Number - Bank Number - Account Number
00000 - 010 - 00-00000

If I'm correct the bank number is 010 but make sure you've put all that info in.

carbondream is also correct - it will not go into a US account and when it comes to your canadian account - it will be converted. The other thing you should check is to have your representative verify if it's sitting in their pending manual transfers - if there was a problem they have it sitting there in limbo. Let them check if it's there.

My friend has a CIBC accound and paypal too and there's no problem . The lady probably don't know what she's talking about

I have no trouble with paypal depositing money in my cibc accounts. However it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep the money coming in from paypal in US dollars. Even if the account you are depositing it to is US, paypal will transfer the money into Can.

Really sucks, I had to go to the US to open accounts just because of this bullshit. :mad:
