Mayo does it right. Fuck ketchup
|

|
Isn't that what they do in Holland? Tarter sauce is pretty good with fries
|
a yummy combination!
|
thought it would be horrible, made fun of people that did it and then I tried it. Has to be low fat variety but yes, it is the way to go. Though, you can mix the two and get that special sauce feel.
The satay sauce the use in Holland is pretty groovy too. |

my fav thing to put on french fries is the hot sauce that you can get with wendy's chili ... I did it on accident one day, the shit is awesome |

Strobi - help me!
The uniforms the guys are wearing in that pic - explain them to me! When I was in Ghent a few months ago we saw kids/teens in them everywhere. Some seemed like the 'had' to be there. One was wearing a banana costume! We figured it was some sort of scouts but the major numbers of people in them made us wonder if they were mandatory or something. *stamps feet - I want to go back to Belgium |

But those guys in Gent could be what we call "schachten". Those are people who are in their first year of Univ and have to dress up and have to do certain humilating thinks to loose their "Univ virginity". after they lost their "virginity", they get to wear a traditional kind of "hat" and "scarf" to prove to the world that they lost their freshman virginity. Those people who wear them all the time (at night mostly) are part of a club. Those clubs do nothing more than oranizing drinking contests and parties but the roots of those "student clubs" are sometimes 150+ years old. But it could have been just someone with a costume or some bachelor party or just local fashion:thumbsup |
absolutly I eat fries with mayo too :thumbsup
|
how about Tar-Tar sauce? thats what I use

the banana costume person was with a girl in the uniform. THere were some really young kids in the same outfits but it seemed like the older kids were just hanging around doing stupid things.

I can't even be in the same room with fried food without putting on a couple of pounds:1orglaugh
I rarely eat fast food fries, but sometimes do oven fries and you really don't notice the missing grease if you do them right. Take a plastic bag and put your favorite spices in it (I generally use a bit of garlic & onion powders, salt and black pepper, and sometimes a bit of parsley flakes). Cut potatoes to desired size/shape, not too thick. Spread the potatoes out on a baking sheet & lightly spray them with cooking spray. Flip or shake the potatos around and spray again, dump them in the bag and shake to coat well. Arrange on the baking sheet and into the oven. For dipping, I love cold ketchup with nice shake of Louisianna red hot sauce stirred in. For really zingy I'll stir in about half a teaspoon of horseradish to the ketchup (not the mayo looking prepared horseradish sauce, but the minced horseradish only that comes in little jars in the refrigerated section of the store). The frozen fries do great in the oven and are closer to fast food fries. They already have a bit of oil in them so they actually "fry" in the oven but they're much higher in fat/cals than cutting fresh potatos, though. |
