taken to hospital after being hurt by a firecracker as he campaigned ahead of tomorrow's presidential election "He was injured by firecrackers," said Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesman Cheng Wen-tsan. Chen, 53, was hit in the stomach, according to local television reports, and was taken to Chi Mei hospital in Tainan. "The bullet hit the vice president in the knee first, then the president," Wang said. Chen had sustained a deep 30 cm (14 inch) wound across the stomach, said Wang. |
