Military Draft - Spring 2005

A long time ago (November) I posted on this board that if Iraq is getting worse the US will re-instate the draft.

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=199767

I was laughed out of this board. However I kept a close eye on it (Most of my friends went to Vietnam drafted) and I have boys in Draft Age

In the past few days I noticed an increase in Draft talks and found this in a paper

http://www.vancouver.indymedia.org/n.../01/105146.php

I remember the Vietnam Draft very vividly boys!! I would strongly suggest to get all your ducks in order if youre between 18 and 28. Because youre going bye bye.

I don't remember until what age they can draft and the requirements used to be so maybe some of you Vets on here can help me out

First they draft previous Military
Than boys ages 18 to 28
Than everybody else??

I don't remember but looking to see if I can find some sort of government paper what kind of idea our now government has.

Edit
Oh yea and for those who think they gonna run to Canada,,, uhm, NOPE

Dodging the draft will be more difficult than those from the Vietnam era remember. College and Canada will not be options. In December 2001, Canada and the US signed a "Smart Border Declaration," which could be used to keep would-be draft dodgers in. Signed by Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, John Manley, and US Homeland Security Director, Gov. Tom Ridge, the declaration involves a 30-point plan which implements, among other things, a "pre-clearance agreement" of people entering and departing each country. Reforms aimed at making the draft more equitable along gender and class lines also eliminates higher education as a shelter. Underclassmen would only be able to postpone service until the end of their cur-rent semester. Seniors would have until the end of the academic year.

benc 03-18-2004 09:35 AM

Theres plenty of youngsters on here that could use the discipline, and they would be serving their country. Double bonus.

Serving your country and defending freedom isn't a dirty thing.

Roger 03-18-2004 09:37 AM

They're gonna try to get the draft back, but I expect that they're gonna get an unexpected gfy from the people concerned.

steffie 03-18-2004 09:38 AM

Keep it an option... I am against the draft. My boys have good jobs, never been in the Military, don't drink, don't do drugs, are good down to earth youngsters

However 2 of them are single with no kids.

Keep it an option. Like I said befor I remember Vietnam well. I graduated in a time where it was in full force and most of my graduating friends went to Vietnam instead to College or work force.

EDIT

OH BTW,, this 2004 Draft includes women, so you better stock up on those content ....

Oh shit, that now envolves my models too ah shucks

Where's the freedom in a draft?

Bush and freedom? Somehow I don't think that they fit well together unless we're talking about freedom from pornography.

Tala 03-18-2004 09:41 AM

If it's anything like the other drafts have been, they will not accept only children.

So if you're an only child, you're not going. I have heard talk, (unfounded, I'm sure), that they will also consider drafting women.

:eek2

Yeah, pretty sure I read somewhere that it concerns men and women between 18-28.

steffie 03-18-2004 09:46 AM

Yes women are included in the new draft agreement. I looked up how exactly a draft works

http://people.howstuffworks.com/us-draft.htm

very interesting.

And one more thing I want to point out, for everybody who is FOR the draft.

If you draft people to go to war it's never good. These guys don't want to be there, they want to go home and are more likely to die or make stupid mistakes and have others killed.

It's like if you would force a bikini only model into filming a Gangbang DP scene. Believe me, it's not going to work.

benc 03-18-2004 09:46 AM

Some westernized countries have mandatory military duty. I forget which ones. Maybe Israel, and I think some scandinavian ones.

The enemy is wiling to blow themself up for their cause. What are our people gonna do for the cause, run up to Canada and be a parasite on their system.

I don't like drafts, or war, but sometimes you gotta fight for your way of life.

Europe has no fight in them, and if we don't either, what is left protecting democracy.

At least Mexico is still an option...

So, why not be more like your enemy? :) You don't fight for freedom by destroying it.

But hey, have fun in your adventure.

steffie 03-18-2004 09:55 AM

So benc

I reckon youre in the military right now fighting for the freedom of keeping your sites up eh?

Look I don't want to be hardnosed and I DO believe that military service should be mandatory for 18 month armed and 24 month civil (Like in Germany)

However I don't agree with a Draft. A draft is different. You don't get to train very long. I remember when a friend of mine was drafted. After 6 weeks in bootcamp he went to Vietnam and died within 3 weeks.

6 weeks is just not enough training to go out and fight a war you might not agree to, use weaponry other have years experience in.

Ah, whatever. I will keep watching the progress on that..

WankTank 03-18-2004 10:00 AM

Fuck War.

jimboc 03-18-2004 10:01 AM

Spain have done a lot of damage but pls don't think all europeans are the same, the brits are with you on this fight. I don't agree with a draft though.

steffie 03-18-2004 10:05 AM

Here is are more recent article on the draft

First to go are Computer Nerds and People skilled in foreign languages

People in the medical field are drafted until age 44

Well, if anyone wants me to maintain there sites while they're gone, I'll be here :)

After reading a few articles on the subject though I think a draft is unlikely unless there's another terrorist attack.

Peaches 03-18-2004 10:28 AM

IMO, it's not going to happen.

Right now all branches of the military are reaching their recruitment goals in record time. The USAF currently has a previously unheard of 67% reenlistment rate.

There are people getting turned down left and right for bankruptcy, minor drug use, basic medical problems, juvenile infractions, etc. If they need more soldiers they need only reduce some of the current restrictions and the floodgates will open. :thumbsup

Peaches 03-18-2004 10:30 AM

Let me also add how fast the NAACP and Jesse Jackson will rail against the draft. Based on statistics and demographics, blacks will be represented much higher than whites in a draft and the claims of racism will be rampant.

Alex From San Diego 03-18-2004 10:44 AM

I'm all for the draft......shoot I would even volunteer again if need be.

Half the kids and punks I see could use a dose of reality.
I'd be all for training their asses and instilling a little discipline.

brizzad 03-18-2004 10:45 AM

i'm an only son, i have a daughter, and im still in school - hopefully im safe

I agree with you totally. I think they should bring back

Compulsary Service

The draft is different. Drafting is in War time.. Compulsary Service is when everybody age 18 needs to service their country in either Armed Forces or Civil Service

Compulsary Service is almost in all countries EXCEPT the USA...

Draft on the other hand - No thank you!

cherrylula 03-18-2004 10:50 AM

A draft would surely set off the revolution.

Or maybe one could just get really fat and unhealthy so they don't pass physicals?

If it does happen, I can't wait to start burning churches!!!

It'll be the last thing we as a country are lied to about.

There will be civil unrest unlike anything the US has ever seen.

I would happily wage war against greedy beaurocratic filth that destroy America faster than any Afghan screaming drivel about god.

When they come, I'll meet them here. Anything else is mind control.

And don't nobody flip this around as me being unpatriotic, fact of the matter is, nobody was until 9/11. Everyone, and I mean everyone is sick and fucking tired of the transperant chicanary being pulled in front of our eyes by the 'haves' in this country.

Remember the lessons in the book 1984.

"Did you hear? Chocolate rations went up 25% this week, brother!"

draft=Bush losing the election

steffie 03-18-2004 11:29 AM

Why do you think that they won't announce it until

SPRING 2005

exactly.

like we had a vote on the war, we wont have a vote on a draft and it will come only AFTER they pull Bin Laden out the Hat.

steffie 03-18-2004 11:34 AM

The polls for Bush are down, today would be a good day to find Bin Laden

would you be for a draft?

please dont dodge the question with rhetorical nonsense.

a simple yes or no will suffice.

would you be for a draft?

would you send your daughters off to war?

If it was necissary, yes. If not, no.

And the US will never draft women.

now children, back to worrying about things that actually *will* happen

That has already started to change..and foreign allies are pulling out in force.

Shoehorn! 03-18-2004 08:29 PM

Fuck, that sucks.

cluck 03-18-2004 08:29 PM

I'm not worried. If they ever drafted me I'd just shoot myself in the foot or something to disable myself.

Draft = murder. Forcing someone into a war situation. If they die, it's the fault of the government.

yeah, i really doubt it'd happen unless there was a real war going on( with a nation that can actually put up a fight) It'd be political suicide otherwise.

Mr Pheer 03-18-2004 08:30 PM

I spent 7 years in the Army, seen combat in Somalia and Haiti... and I hope they draft fuckin everyone that can serve.

And if you run, i hope they put you in prison as a mineral decomposition specialist (busting big rocks into small rocks)

It's one thing to draft in a war the American people are directly involved in. If Saddam was pointing nukes at us and had people invading the USA there'd be no choice. You'd have to fight. It's not fair to draft someone when the war(Iraq) is none of their damn business anyway. Maybe there needed to be a regime change for the sake of the Iraqis, but what about those who aren't willing to give up their lives for that?

Not my fucking problem, let those who care deal with it.

shermo 03-18-2004 08:37 PM

Thankfully I'm an only child, and I have a bum shoulder. I guess I'll be staying home while the others are looking for those "WMD's".

I have an idea... Let's let the money hungry assholes in office fight do the death, while the rest of us actually try and enjoy life.

infecto 03-18-2004 08:42 PM

Can I say mexico?

insanesurfer 03-18-2004 08:46 PM

It is only a matter of time before a draft happens. Makes me glad I live in canada.

CamChicks 03-18-2004 08:58 PM

Peace could be achieved if everybody just stays home. :2 cents:
