TGP Thumb Sizes - What do submitters want?
I'm working on new thumb TGP network and I am designing 50 thumb TGPs to start with.
I've been looking around to see what the standard thumb sizes are and I've noticed that 120x150, 88x88 and 90x120 seem to be some of the most common sizes. I know different design companies use different sizes but I want to know which you guys think is the most poular, and which sizes you submitters prefer. So submitters let me know what you want. Any input appreciated. |
I asked that question about 1-2 months ago, and got a majority of votes for 90x120
but the main thing submitters want is TRAFFIC |

90x120 or 88x88 are preferred by me. Depending on your site and what you can send you can do any size you like. If you want a lot of submitters, do those 2. If you have a lot of traffic and want quality submitters, try using a size a little different. Then you will get yourself some webmasters that take the extra step :2 cents:

Size does matter, no matter what the ladies tell ya a bigger one is better.
As far as sizes go, 90x120 I like the best but I don't want all my tgps to be the same size so i vary them and if you run a funky size like 124x124 it makes it easy to see if someone is stealing your thumbs. |
Has anyone heard of the "magic number" that is supposed to be preferred in all things ? Something like a 1.6 ratio I think.

88x88 is the common one.

i hope at least some of that made sense and in response to 4Pics; that is a good point of having different sizes, but if you are going to use a FHG database this would lead to either incompatibility, or extra cost. |
i wish you guys would conform to my 85x110 standard :)

The golden ratio!

Everyone wants different sizes, 88x88, 90x120, and a whole host of others. pain in the ass if you ask me.

my tgp has a 120x150 size and a utility for webmasters to crop a image for the preview on the fly so i don't have to loose webmasters.. but no one actually submits.. so i post myself and am happy with the conversions. :glugglug

Thanks for the input guys. From what I've heard so far it seems that 90x120 and 88x88 are the way to go.
Interesting idea about the golden proportions but I'm not sure if its practical. From the examples Brujah posted, they look far too long. The standard photo size about 1:1.5, so less. I dont' think the golden proportions would actually look good, plus the problem with it being uncommon as discussed above. Thanks for the idea though. :) |
