Jury Duty

I got selected last month and sent in the form asking to be excused, ect.

They denied it and now I'm on call as of 4/11. And it's in Inglewood which is not a very good area.

Anyone ever served or been called in? Anything I can do at this point to get out of it?

axelcat 03-17-2004 02:35 PM

I just went through it good luck to you it sucks

Amputate Your Head 03-17-2004 02:35 PM

I feel for you. Knowing my luck if I ever got called for jury duty I would be on some 12 month trial.

HEHE, I just went in on monday, they had 180 people in the room and no one got called to a court room. At the end of the day they let us go. They do not accept financial hardship as an excuse now. I am sorry to say you have to go and serve it out if you get called. My location was in downtown LA, which is just as bad as Inglewoooooooooooood.

I recently watched "Runaway Jury"..... very interesting watching the selection process..... I know it's just a movie, but still..... made me think about it. I definately won't be acting like I wanna get out of there more than anything in the world. (which of course is true)...... but maybe if you look like you desperately WANT to be on a jury, they'll cut you loose.

?

maybe?

mindoza 03-17-2004 03:06 PM

I had a nightmare experience..What was told to be a 3 day trial turned out to be 8 weeks..high profile mobster who tried to have some number runners killed for stealing from him

It was a circus...I even had some inforcers follow me most of the way home on the subway.

It was a hung jury cause i was the only one willing to say he was guilty even though it was obvious.

A girl tried to not show up and they sent a cop car to her house to scoop her up. she was latered dismissed after the crack pipe fell out of her pocketbook(I would not suggest that tactic)
GOOD FUCKING LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in 2000 I was summoned for jury duty in Las Vegas.
I got out of it since I was self-employed and the only person in my company. They called a few people I worked with at the time to verify that I was self-employed and that was it.

CamChicks 03-17-2004 03:24 PM

(maybe?)
Tell them you would be a really good juror because you are psychic, and automatically know if someone is guilty just by looking at their aura.

riosluts 03-17-2004 03:25 PM

Jury Duty is fun. You also get 5 big ones to keep everyday

When you go to the courthouse just talk about "those damn ******s", "money grubbing jews", and "fucking faggot queers".

Or better still, pretend to be very eager to be on a jury. Tell them how you never miss an episode of Texas Justice or the People's Court and you'll be happy to help the Judge with the finer points of the law. You should also mention that you can tell if someone's guilty just by looking at them.

:thumbsup 5$ a day hahahahahahaha fuck it!

That's the same amount we are getting here for military service. However, if you are working for a company a state insurance gives you your usual salary in addition.

No system like that in the US ?

BuckLover 03-17-2004 03:44 PM

financial hardship! it sucks! I hate jury duty!

some companies had paid jury duty leave so that if you are summoned you still get your salary, ect.

I heard about being overly anxious to be on a jury

Maybe I should pretend I have tourette syndrome and yell out things like 'FRY THEM ALL'! :)
