Infertility anyone?

I was reading various studies on long term antibiotics the other day and came across something that mentioned couples being treated with a round of antibiotics for infertility.....

I was thinking about it and this sort of makes sense in way.

I think a lot of people who get Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma/Chlamydia infections wind up getting them again (or never getting rid of the first one) for one reason or another.... so they wind up with this infection for years.

These are infections that I definitely think could create problems for couples trying to have a baby.

Anyway if you know anyone who is trying unsucessfully to have a child, you might tell them to to ask their doctor to test them for ureaplasma, mycoplasma and chlamydia -- if either of the couple tests positive, then I would think both should go on at least one round of antibiotics & then try to conceive....

this might not be something doctors will be hip to doing though... because it's a hell of a lot cheaper than going through the infertility channels if it turns out to be the cause. (I think my friend spent around $25,000 to be able to have his first child.)

But from what I've read, you might be surprised :)

I wanted to tell a friend of mine about this but he's not around right now so I figured I'd share it with all of you.

good reading.

It's funny abotu infertility - doctos told me I couldnt have children for abotu 6 years.
then i spend one night with my husband - bammo! I got pregant first time we had sex.

its also funny the number of couples who are told they are infertile so they adopt - then right away they fet preganant!
must be something to do with the pressure bieng off.

Well... I just got ahold of him..... out of the countless trips to the infertility clinics and such... he was never tested for any of this and it was never mentioned that it could be a cause.

They are going to make appointments right away.

This is going to be interesting :glugglug

Hmm that's interesting too...

because if you believe in this bacteria theory, then it makes sense that bacteria is more proliferate while you are under stress (and your immune system is supressed).

So like you said, you bring home the newly adopted kid, a lot of stress is relieved & the bacteria gets put in check enough for you to get pregnant.

Makes sense to me.
