why are tgps better than picposts?
 

I don't get this ... why theres 10 million tgps and like no picposts now ... why are picposts dead? I mean ... years ago itd make sense that text tgps would be better than picposts, since the tgp owners didnt have to deal with massive bandwidth bills and it was spread throughout all the submitters ... but now, its easy (look at thumb tgp popularity) to do that, and picposts seem easier to run: no fancy gallery layouts for the submitters, submitters dont have a bandwidth bill, once they submit, they never have to worry about their hosting going down or anything, they get commissions as long as the picpost keeps running their pics .... picpost owners have it easier because its a LOT harder to cheat a picpost than a tgp, since once the picpost owner has the pics, submitters cant fuck with them or anything, and because of the nature of a picppost being closer to a free site, the pic post owners get more return/bookmark traffic than tgps would, which is better than blind link cj tgp traffic by far ...
I'm wondering this because a while back I submitted 3 (not even good) pics to a picpost ... I was working on it as a php programmer for someone ... that picpost is one of my top referers for the tgp I submitted for now, so it kinda bugs me out as to why people don't like doing this ... it also makes me think tgps and picposts should work together, IE tgp owners submitting pics to picposts ...


So, what do you guys think? why are picposts dead?

TGP's = more surfer friendly = more traffic = more sales, that simple.

So whats the biggest pic post that you know of now, and how does its traffic compare to the some of the biggest TGPs that you know of?

I've used picpost traffic before. Got me 2 lightspeed signups and a few teen kelly signups. I submitted a few pics to sublime thumbs and richards realm. Great traffic if you use it right :thumbsup

At the same time, it's too slow to make a living with, unless maybe you run your own, which probably wouldn't grow too easily these days.

Because the surfer want MORE of the same set .

Because the surfer isn't on 56k anymore and can use movies.

Because there is too much free porn out there to only limit to one picture

don't have to just have 1 pic at a time ... what I would do is like 6 pic galleries with rotated thumbs on the front page and when u click on one, you can use icon thumbs to get to the others ...

Look at GFY and how many replies there are on "xxx (pic)" threads?

The reason I posted this thread is Im gonna be releasing a picpost soon ... its not quite like your typical picpost though, its like a cross between a picpost and a toplist/traffic exchange.

anyone else? I'm really curious about this, and am actually considering making a picpost ... but its not gonna be a typical picpost, basically I wanna know why webmasters dont like them (not necessarily why surfers dont ... I'll worry about that, but tips are definitely appreciated :) ) ....
so, what is it that webmasters such as yourselves dont like about picposts, why would you choose a TGP instead?
What I see is: TGP = lotsa crappy traffic, blind links, etc ... free site = requires onsite content and a bit more bandwidth/space, but means much higher quality traffic, yet less new traffic .... I'm thinkin picposts are almost like a cross between tgps and freesites, so if people like tgps, and people like freesites, why dont they like picposts?

The Hun has Thumbs Up, Richards Realm has a pic post. They are great for getting traffic to your site.

I never even bothered checking out thumbs-up til you mentioned it ... I'm kinda surprised that its so cheapish looking, I would expect it to look really cool since its from thehun ...
basically what I wanna do for the pic post is slightly different, its like a cross between a picpost and a thumb tgp...
it would have categorized thumbs looking kinda like in a thumb tgp, like a block of maybe 8x8 pics or whatever ... when you click a thumb you can see the full pic, and it shows a page just like a typical picpost pic display page (like thumbs up), but underneath the pic it has thumbs of the other pics in the set that were submitted ... also unlike most picposts, I'd allow 5 pics to be submitted in a set, instead of the usual 3. ... so basically what I'm doing is like a picpostified thumb tgp, but the key difference that makes it a bit more unique is that the thumbs are organized based on the traffic coming in from the sites that submit them, so the more traffic that comes into the picpost/tgp from a submitter the more his pics are shown.

what do you think of this?

someone already said that ... how are they more surfer friendly? tgp = blind links 30-40% of the time, out of the times hits do go to galleries they're 404s, redirects, and other cheaters who changed their galleries after submission ... how on earth is a tgp more surfer friendly???
