How did.....LENSMAN start ?
 

I am here since 2002, so I have no clue.
Many of the current medium / big players started back in 1996 as simply gallery submitters with zero investment.
Others entered the biz already with some cash and then created affiliate programs and made a decent return.

How about Lensman, the board owner?
I don't know and I am sure many other webmasters don't know it either.
Just curious. :)

He started amateurpages.com back in 1997/98 and made a click program paying $0.03 per click. He use a thrid part counter called CTC.
Very fast hes click program was the most used and that was the start of all of Lenmans other sites.

Many of the big players started 1995-1998 and Lenman was one of them seeing the opportunities on internetporn.
