We locked you up in jail for 25 years and you were innocent all along? That?ll be £80,000 please.

Roger 03-14-2004 10:49 AM

Unbelievable, how can this guy go on? 25 years in prison. I'd expect him to spend the next 25 years insulting the idiots who put him there.

kmanrox 03-14-2004 10:50 AM

god save the Queen!!

ahaha

Fletch XXX 03-14-2004 10:55 AM

holy shit.

"Blunkett?s fight has been described as ?outrageous?, ?morally repugnant? and the ?sickest of sick jokes?, but his spokesmen in the Home Office say it?s a completely ?reasonable course of action? as the innocent men and women would have spent the money anyway on food and lodgings if they weren?t in prison. The government deems the claw-back ?Saved Living Expenses?"

Nicky 03-14-2004 10:55 AM

Manowar 03-14-2004 11:10 AM

this country is getting more and more fucked up by the day

Tipsy 03-14-2004 11:13 AM

That's what happens when you put a blind guy who also happens to be mentally challenged in charge. Not a problem the US will ever face though - they'd have electrocuted the bastards by now. Hard to get money from a dead man :)

ListYourPorn 03-14-2004 11:15 AM

too right why should we pay for people who screw up, ?

chemicaleyes 03-14-2004 11:17 AM

That is just plain taking the piss!
Seems the story is not in any major newspapers in the UK or on any major UK radio stations - unless I have missed this?

beemk 03-14-2004 11:18 AM

what a fucking joke. i would send them a counter bill for the 25 years of missed work.

beemk 03-14-2004 11:18 AM

Can't find it anywhere but that's unsurprising. Both in the US and the UK the governments are trying their best these days to make sure the general population of the country is the last to know an awful lot of shady stuff.

Sounds like the money will come out of the compensation owed, so not a direct bill as such. Either way though it's very, very wrong. I'm trying to find a less sensationalist story with more facts. Would be interesting to know how long this has been in place.

Roger 03-14-2004 11:23 AM

Now that innocent people have to pay for the time they spent in jail, it'll be easier for the government to emprison anyone.

tbabe 03-14-2004 11:23 AM

holy shit, is that a real paper? I cant believe anyone would be stupid enough to propose something like that. Its not like they chose to go to prison.

Hmmmm, i wonder if they knock some money off the bill for every time they got raped.

blunkett says a lot of things without asking the other people in his party. Everyone I know who knows him (in London you know people that know people) say he is a right bastard and it is starting to show.

Paul Markham 03-14-2004 11:41 AM

I would rather wait for it to hit the proper newspapers first. There are many papers anti Blair in the UK, I wonder why it's not in the Mail or the Express?

ya, every country has politicians like that.

Frankly, i would expect a proposal like that from a republican or other right winger. But isnt the labor party a left leaning party?

How the fuck did this guy get voted in.

What a fool, I wonder what he was thinking.

FooL!

pimplink 03-14-2004 06:33 PM

That story is so fucked up. Damn, I feel so sad for that guy.

Mr. Marks 03-14-2004 11:25 PM

Have you heard of justice? Well, I pity those people who get stuck in that kind of rut. They should have been smarter than that. I'm sure that he could have done something, or there is something seriously wrong with the sytem.

detoxed 03-14-2004 11:33 PM

i'd go crazy and kill some of the people who are trying to make me pay. no shit.
