ICQ spam prog.
 

I am sure a lot of you get the adultfriendfinder spam on ICQ.. mostly being authorization requests with aff url in it.

is it a custom program or a commerical spam software or freeware ?

most likely a kiddie spam prog just like all the aim2aim and aim2aol spammers floating around the online hax0r community.

how come they never get sued ??

how could they, and by whom? ICQ messages are neither electronic mail spam nor are they telemarketing calls.

how would an ICQ user track down the sender? and what judge in their right mind would hear that case.. :1orglaugh

as long as there's a form of communication there will be a way to exploit it. period. i've already started receiving text message spam on my cell phone, that'll be the next big marketing scheme.

Well iam sure the sender can be tracked down by IP at least by ICQ..

and shouldn't ICQ be able to able to detect the same message being sent to a million + users to qualify as spam and ban the user or spam him back with his own messages ?

yes, however:

-The same message isn't being sent.. a message is selected at random from a list of a couple hundred

-Million+ users would be quite a feat for a kiddie spam program. The highest rate any of my software ever achieved was 1600 messages per minute, and that was mail not ICQ (which is lagged as all of the ICQ community knows). Even at that speed it would take more than 10 hours to reach a million users.

they will get you a spammer to use

I'm sure down the road, they will try and cleanup their network with lawsuits against spammers

very slow. i coded it a couple years ago in visual basic, the worst possible language for a multi-thread spammer/mailer/etc. :1orglaugh

ICQ IS was fast as I got told by somebody using it . It was making like 150 account and messaging everybody one by one ... and chatting with the person

Since ICQ uses TOC you could easily make a TOC or TOC2 spammer for ICQ. A couple million messages would be no prob, all you need is some proxies.
