photoshop v imagemagick
 

why do agsql thumbs made with imagemagick appear sharper and crisper than the same thumb made in photoshop saved out under the same quality setting (90)?

what am i doing wrong?

push the quality to 100 cheapskate

The thumb maker probably put a filter on it ... If you wanna get the same result in photoshop use sharpen

Because imagemagick rocks ;)

You can also run them through jpegtran, which gives you a lot more options to tweak with.
