Brock Lesnar Leaving Wresting And Pursuing NFL Football

Wow, I never thought that Brock would ever leave wrestling like this. I just wonder how he thinks that he's just gonna jump into football and be a star. I suppose that he's already got the size to whop some ass, but I'm not sure if he'll know what to do. They say that he's gonna try out for the Minnesota Vikings (his home state).

Anyways, here's the story for those interested -

We have been told that yesterday at the SmackDown! tapings, Lesnar stood up in front of the entire room at the pre-show meeting and announced he was leaving WWE to pursue a career in the National Football League.

Lesnar's current WWE deal is for seven years. He met with Vince McMahon last Tuesday at the SmackDown! tapings and discussed his concern for his upcoming storyline with The Undertaker where was was supposed to put the character over. Lesnar didn't understand that if he was to be a main event player for the next several years, why was he going to be 'fed' to 'Taker.

He was also upset about going on the recent tour of South Africa where he had to wrestle Hardcore Holly. He felt that he should have been put in a much higher profile match.

From what our sources have told us, Lesnar informed everyone at the meeting that he was miserable in the business. He said that it was not any reflection on the business per se, but he just couldn't find happiness in the industry any more.

Lesnar went on to publicly thank Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Gerry Brisco "for finding me in college," and thanked Big Show and Paul Heyman for all their help with his career. He told the crew he wouldn't be back and he was said to be very emotional and wished everyone well.

That's interesting - did he even play football while he was in college? If so, what position? I mean, does this guy have a chance of even sniffing an NFL training camp, or is he just working the media?

Veterans Day 03-12-2004 07:35 AM

ya he will get run over for sure

Digipimp 03-12-2004 07:45 AM

It would have to be a real pleasure from some NFL pro to punk this guy like you know they're going to do. He hardly has a chance.

Nope, he never played college football, he was only in college wrestling.

Yep, I'm possitive, I watch wrestling often and they never mentioned any football in his past, only his college wrestling.

I even went through to dig up a page with his life bio for ya to read through, definately no mention of any football

Heck.. if The Rock and Goldberg can go from football to wrestling.. then Lesner can go from wrestling to football.

kronic 03-12-2004 09:20 AM

It's a work people.

He'll be off TV MAYBE for a little while. He isn't going anywhere.

McMahon isn't just gonna let him out of a 7 year contract.

Roger 03-12-2004 09:21 AM

I never really liked the guy anyway. I don't know why they made him win and become so important. It's one bad decision after another in the WWE nowadays and the company is hurting because of that.

Slick 03-12-2004 09:25 AM

I think that the guy's head is too damn big. What really started him leaving is that the Undertaker is coming back this Sunday and after that, they want Brock to lose to the Undertaker. I guess that Brock thinks that he's too good to get beat like that, so he's all pissed off. The thing is that he's been one of the top guys over there, to get beat by another top dog like that, there's nothing wrong with that, it's all a part of the game, you can't be made to win all the time.

BigasMoe 03-12-2004 09:29 AM

I'd hate to see him go :helpme

The Truth Hurts 03-12-2004 09:32 AM

supposed to be Goldbergs last match too...

so expect them both to get their asses stunned by scsa.

The Rock played D Line at U of Miami when they SUCKED those couple of years. It wasn't like he was projected as a first round pick.

I dont think Goldberg was a starter in the NFL, either. Not that either guy was a slouch, you have to be pretty damn good to play at a major college and/or even get drafted, much less make an NFL roster.

okny 03-12-2004 09:38 AM

Linebacker that would be the best position with his size but, i would love to see how well that would work out.

Hustler DJ 03-12-2004 11:01 AM

He's not going anywhere. VinnieMac owns his ass...

... and where's the rumor of a storyline where he's putting Taker over? That's Kane's play for now... and Taker's got enough going on with the revival of the old 'dead man' schtick (especially if the rumor is true that Paul Bearer will come back with him). Admittedly, they've gotta find a better storyline for Brock (esp. if Goldberg bolts), but they've got options. Brock's finally doing semi-decent promos and getting over as a heel. He may not be the happiest camper (no more Minn. kids to play with), but he's not going anywhere... :2 cents:

Anyway, brother, after I eat my 57 pound breakfast burrito and 27 gallon protein shake, I'm going to have a talk with that dude. I know he's been depressed after the Hulkster lay down for him last year, brother, cause Hulkamania courses through the veins of little Brock, dude. yes it is! LOL! whats truly horrible is by chance smackdown was on last nite after seinfeld, i didn't change the channel and during one segment while two of the girls were in Vegas, they were interviewing people in the casino about Wrestlemania XX... there was a cute asian chick they interviewed and i took notice of her.

Later as I was going to bed, a professionally done Wrestlemania commercial came on and that SAME chick was in it! I mean come on... it's bad enough that the wrestling is fake but to stoop to re-using the same actress for two completely different segments is ridiculous.

Im pretty sure he can leave WWE, but cant wrestle anywhere else till his 7 year contract is up. Theres been a few WWE people who have left for various reason. He just doesnt get paid anymore and cant go to another wrestling company.

Vitasoy 03-12-2004 11:55 AM

I wanna see him in MMA, hes big and strong but I wonder if he can hang with the big boys in the mma.

Actually on a couple of wrestling messagboards they're talking about that. Undertaker is actually a Smackdown wrestler and they REALLY need some big talent over there, especially now that Benoit is gone to Raw and that Edge is supposed to come back to Raw, so even though it doesn't make much sense that they'd have one match with Taker and Kane, the match at Wrestlemania is titled as a "cross-brand match" meaning Raw Vs. Smackdown talent.

exspamr 03-12-2004 02:09 PM

I'm anixous to see who will win between him and Goldberg Sunday since this will be both of their last matches with the WWE.

SykkBoy 03-12-2004 03:21 PM

the more I hear about it and see the rags touting "inside" info, the more I think it's a work...

gotta love Vince McMahon and his worked shoots...always keeping both the marks and the smarts on their toes...

Strife 03-12-2004 03:23 PM

If he never played college football...how the hell does he expect to make the NFL??? I'm not talking about psychical talent...he's a big strong athletic guy but he basically would have to learn how to play football from scratch

I have seen when cried infront of the
whole crowd, asking why they have
treated him badly. and how he cannot
sleep because he lost his WWE Championship Title to
Eddie Guerrero. In the end of his speech, he cried.
Not unusual for a typical cry baby.
Eddie Guerrero Rules!
