About domain registering...
Hey guys, I checked other webmasters domain whois info, and they put a fantasy name, or something like "Homer Simpson" instead of their real names. Is that allowed?
When I register my domain names with goddady it says that I can have some troubles if I don't put my real name. That's why I always use my real name when I register domains. Can I use a fantasy name instead of my real name? Thanks. |
Eventually your DNS records will be reviewed, could take a very long time, but if your contact information isnt accurate then they can turn off your domain until you correct it. If you want to use a fake name, use one that isnt so obviously fake like Homer Simpson. But you will need accurate ways for them to reach you, if you have an invalid phone # they can deactivate your domain.

I never put my real whois info on my domains. I've never had any trouble from my domain registrars about it. For the phone number, I put a voice mail box # so I can still be contacted.
As long as your billing information is correct, I think some registrars could care less to enforce correct whois info. |
ok.

to further elaborate....don't use any real info. except for a contact email that shouldn't even be your personal email....make up a fake company name, phone number, fax, put your address as a different state, fake name.......everything......just don't lie about you billing info, that is illegal......just make sure there is a way for your domain registrar can contact u

because if the registar cant contact you - you're not the owner of the domain. |
