How long do you think Howard will remain on the air?

He's been talking like he's a dead man walking for the last week. Do you think he'll be on the air much longer? Also, do you think he'll retire after he's fired or will he move on to bigger and better things?

Maybe he'll become one of us! :thumbsup

CBS has contracts with stations - unless they think the FCC is going to make trouble for them by keeping Howard on he'll have to finish off the last 2 years of his contract even if he doesn't want to. He said yesterday that he'll play records like a regular deejay for the last 2 years if they won't let him do his show the way he wants.

He will go to satellite radio. His options aren't that great - Howard was the flavour of the day for a couple years back around the time his movie came out in the mid 90's. Since then Hollywood has cooled on him. He has a production company with stuff in development like remakes of Rock n Roll High School and Porky's and a cartoon called Young Howard Stern chronicling his miserable childhood and teenage years for SpikeTV. Nothing really major, nothing that is likely going to make him the big money he can make in radio. At one time he had a chance to go up against Leno and Letterman with Fox, he shot a pilot that u can actually get from collectors - but he passed on Rupert Murdoch's offer. Not sure that offer will come again. He recently signed a deal with ABC to do some primetime interview specials a la Barbara Walters.

I don't think he'll ever go away, and I hope he doesn't. People listen to what he has to say and he likes that. I think he'll always be in the limelight in one way or another, and I hope he remains a voice to the masses becuse he is one of the few left that actually fight the power and excercises his right to free speech. Long live Howard Stern.

I say he'll only be on for another week or so. But I don't have a radio so I don't listen to him either.

Who knows how long he'll stay on - but I think the Bush administration is scared of Stern and will do anything in their power to see him taken off the air. Wasn't Stern's endorsement of Governer Pataki of new york in '94 the deciding factor in that election? No matter what people will say of Stern - people DO listen to him, and he has a huge audience, and Bush is looking at some serious competition come election day...and every vote counts. I guess you can chalk me up as a conspiracy theorist :1orglaugh

Mutt, Nice knowledge.

It seems nothing will happen until the elections. If Bush wins, he will be off in a New York minute.

The people that listen to him daily, (on right now) realize he is playing a chess game with the FCC. (and doing pretty well)
