Who watched Stephen King's show last week?

I tried watching it while working but had to give up on it..it's apparently something you need to follow closely...so I won't be watching it tonight.

But from what I did catch looked kind of slow and drawn out.

freeadultcontent 03-10-2004 08:41 PM

slow, drawn out? its only what 18 episodes.

GiantGnome 03-10-2004 08:42 PM

Not length of series, I'm referring to the content of each show...the pace is just really slow.

And is Stephen King actually apart of this?..the guy churns out so much product and just options shit off for some cash and an exec producing credit and then it all gets turned to shit in most cases.

I do think he is. I know most of his early books were sold off and made into crap movies. Nothing he could really do about it.

that's cool..because usually when he has some sort of control over it..and gets them to hire a good director it's usually pretty good.

It hasn't started here yet..I may try to watch it this week and go from there...just don't know if I can commit 17 hours of my life to one program...LOL

Disagree...I think the ones where King has a directorial role are the shitty ones...Case in point: The Shining. The first one with Jack Nicholson was a masterpiece, Kubrick is a fucking genius. Stephen King HATED that version and did his own made-for-tv a few years back, which sucked.

Love his books though, just bought the Buick8 one today :thumbsup

I read the Buick8 one on a flight once... very interesting, the thing i dont like... is his books tell a story, but its a story with no ending usually it seems.

YOu disagree? you might wanna read what I said...I said the ones where king had some creative control and a good director was hired.

I love his books!

Lord Helpus 03-10-2004 09:14 PM

Eros, I did read what you said.

I only disagree cuz I recently read an interview w King where he said he hated what Kubrick did with his story and that's why he remade the Shining (the later TV one) and directed himself. IMHO, the Kubrick Shining was much better.

Did you see Dreamcatcher? Don't know who directed that one but they fucked it all up...

Gotcha on the good director part though, agree.

Stephen King wrote the teleplay based on a Danish series called The Kingdom. This season of Kingdom Hospital is being called a mini-series but he is working on a possible second season. The pace really is not that much slower than his books and it beats cramming a whole book in a two-hour movie.

Last week's episode was the two-hour pilot and the rest of the episodes will be one hour. I actually had my doubts before watching the pilot movie (tip: tape it off so you can fast-forward the commercials). I am actually enjoying the series so far and it looks like next week will be a killer episode.

If you haven't watched the pilot movie, you will not be able to jump in on the series at any time. It would be like skipping the first few chapters of a book.

I also enjoy some of the names being tossed around: Dr. Hook, Johnny B. Good and Jesse James. There is humor mixed in with the supernatural. There are some gross stuff too such as blood splattering a nurse.

I highly recommend it for what it is: pure entertainment. :thumbsup

Yup, must be corrected. He (king) wrote the teleplay and produced it. I also think he is producing the new Johnny Depp movie from sony right?

As for the Shining comments, well first off it is near impossible to live up to the role jack played. That aside the second movie was much better and more true to the novel. Go ahead flame all you want.

I also like and prefer the movies he is directly envolved in.

It looks stupid
