This is called direct linking to an outside source. It is something that happens all the time. Disabling hotlinking from unauthorized sites is very easy.

Yah forums have a lot of members who hotlink to images and movie files from other sites. Sometimes it is benefitial to the site being offered, but often there is no referring link to click on so ultimatly we lose sales from that kind of post.
Our company owns BiZzoForums and we offer forums to webmasters to promote their revenue streams. We ask the webmasters to moderate their posts and they get rid of anything deemed unacceptable by our AUP.
This is the 2nd time I have dealt with any situation in the year we have been open. The first one was by some webmaster who used an image owned by (of all things) playboy.
If you have more of that kind of content, you are welcome to join the forum and post it (with your affiliate links!) on the site.
I find that Forum traffic doesn't convert well, but forum members seem to go all over the place and post the same thing on different forums. So once it's all over the place, you have some exposure. At that point you can disable the link and send the 404 traffic anywhere you like.
