antihotlinking.com - any good?
I have had a few friends tell me it slowed down their server so they had to disable it...... has anyone else had a problem with this script slowing their server down?

do you have a movie site, if not just use htaccess
|
Yes will be using movie galleries, lots of them........

that software is good, and it will save your bandwith bills, but server load, well that could happen - what i can suggest is to optimize the .htaccess on front end, that should lower the load a lot.
consider that each 'line' that you have there is like one more request for the CPU. like if you have 10 lines and you have 100 visitors, that means that the server needs to check all those 10 lines for all 100 visitors, and that can pump up the load a lot. so that if you have a very good .htaccess and you use antihotlinking, the server should be safe, just don't use an old 386 hehe j/k if you have any question, drop me a line on icq have a good day! |

Really great software - you will not see the difference in server resources after you install it, except stopping the thiefs!

We may have a solution you like.

What I usually do is have a little script that renames the movie directory, and stores it in the database. Cron it to run every hour or 3 or every day whatever you want, then just have your pages call the files using the location from the database. Pretty good for what I use, but i'm not sure how much hotlinking you have. :2 cents:

Strongbox is better and (if memory serves) a lot cheaper:
