If a creditcard company told you that....

...you were being offered a "free trial memborship" and would not be charged one fucking cent until after the "ftm" was over...

and then you get this notification from your bank saying "x" amount of money was debited from your checking account and it was from "x" credit card company within 24 hours of authorizing a free trial memborship....

how would you feel...what would you do...Nothing...Or be about unleashing the legal dogs...?

Holla back... :feels-hot

whats a free memborship?

detoxed 03-08-2004 04:14 PM

I would go back and re-read the fine print that I glossed over the first time.

it's there.... you just missed it. If there's anyone in this world that has their asses covered, it's credit card companies.

What he said

One possibility is they sent an auth request to your credit card, making sure the funds for the membership are there and securing it for possible future settlement. Some banks notify you of these, some do not as most drop off within 3-7 days without ever being settled.

Most companies do this to verify the card information is valid and that there are funds available, it doesn't mean they're actually taking any money from you.

:2 cents:

Oh yeah they do cover their asses pretty well...it's in their script and 7-point close, if you don't have the skill of listening or reading between the lines then you've just been swindled by the company...

So my next ? is does this put me in the same boat as RConn, since I moonlight for a c'c company which has shady practices...

Gonna see if it's possible to get something going...

Nope it's one of those "here's a pre-approved, urgent, $6,500 Merchant credit card" companies...what's fuckt is that from all the orders I've taken I can tell most people don't even bother reading and understanding the approval letter they receive in the mail...plus alot of them also have no credit or fuckt credit and no one else will give them a card...

All the card is good for shopping is out of their catalog...HA:Graucho

Joetanto 03-08-2004 04:31 PM

Hmmmmmmmm now that's a possibility also...Didn't even think of that one if that's the case then the customers don't have a wooden peg leg to stand on....Hmmmmm but they still seem shady to meeeeee...:glugglug
