Cost of wire transfers

A company charged me $30 to send me a wire transfer from USA to Europe. Costed me $30. Okay expensive but they want to get rich as well.
Problem is when it arrives at my bank my bank charges E 10 as well cause the international transfer is send at "shared costs".
wtf???
They charge $30 to do a banktransfer and this is only halve the costs???
Is this normal practice or am I getting overcharged???

thats normal. I have seen a lot of sponsors charge $25-$30, but if you are a big time seller they should wire your money for free though. :2 cents:

FrankWhite 03-08-2004 07:21 AM

i hate it too :(

OMG Shawn 03-08-2004 07:22 AM

Same as for me here in Canada.
Cost me $30 USD to send a wire. They state half is for
my bank and half is for the recieving bank.
Yet, when I get wires to my account, my bank charges
me $10 for each wire recieved.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

I usually like mailing money orders better.
The bank gives me free money orders, and the stamp is cheap.

FrankWhite 03-08-2004 07:23 AM

use paypal or epassporte much cheaper. :thumbsup

Raf1 03-08-2004 07:24 AM

Wire transfers suck. It's too expensive

perfectodollars-gabrio 03-08-2004 07:24 AM

same here in italy, thats normal. banks want to get rich any way they can, thats why both ends get charged.

Nydahl 03-08-2004 07:29 AM

I have an option where you can choose who pays the wire fees - sender or beneficiarry but ussualy I got charge on both sides.
Also my bank offers express wire for 50 USD but you have money on second day - its expensive but really good service.

I trust dealing with banks a hell of a lot more than with PayPal or anyone similar. It costs me about $15 to recieve a wire from some sponsors, and I usually get charged about $45 to send an International wire.Since the transactions are of a nice size, I never look at this as a problem.

Just got an email back from CC bill telling me this is normal practice. They say its their costs.
Funny how Nasty Dollars only asks $15 for the same thing.
CC bill sends me about 4k a month.

hoe_vender 03-08-2004 07:47 AM

They rape you on the fees

You Need a new bank , TD Canada Trust = 22$ to send wire , 0$ to receive wire.

Yeah normal way for that, every time i recived wire bank charge $30 sender and then take me 1,5% of all amount...that sucks but that's the way it is:(

bdld 03-08-2004 10:44 AM

if you use a verotel sponsor like the one in my sig the wires are free and weekly

Alex Xe 03-08-2004 10:48 AM

It is depends of bank. But 25-30$ it is normal cost.

angeleyes 03-08-2004 11:06 AM

Yep, that is standard.. We only charge the WM what we get charged.

If the wire is over a certain amount, we will then absorb the cost ourself.

Hello,

There is no "standard" rate... It varies depending on which bank you use.

Jennifer

alan-l 03-08-2004 12:00 PM

those are the usual costs involved

crescentx 03-08-2004 12:04 PM

Depends on your bank. Generally speaking, though, banks that are "connected" to the SWIFT system and Fed system are better, some like everbank.com don't even charge for incoming wires.

i have no fucking idea why international wire transfers couldn't work like paypal.
Now they take 2-7 days, cost much and are so complicated ( different systems are used in different countries ).
I mean, we are living in the 21st century, aren' t we? :BangBang: :BangBang:

if you dont upgrade your paypal account to premium you dont pay the fees. the only downside is that the basic paypal account cant accept credit card payments.

i have 1 account for credit card payments, and another for not having to pay fees.

Wire Fees in Europe:

1) Inside same country: Free for both
2) Inside European via IBAN/BIC: Free for both
3) Foreign wire: depends a lot on receiving country and bank.

Wires from the US to Europe for me usually take under 24 hours to arrive as long as its a one-hope swift, meaning they wire EUR directly to me. The cost, I am not 100% sure, its partly percentage based, it costs something around 10 eur receiving though.
