But do you still think about cigarettes every single day?

X-Wing 03-07-2004 02:01 AM

First few months, yes.. then gradually less and less until now where i get cravings maybe 2-5 times/ month that are 1/50th of the strenght they used to be and usually last less than 1 minute.

I don't think of them without some kind of input, eg; if i see someone smoking.. i think.. "waste of money, your fucking up your lungs, ive seen someone die from this shit/loose limbs/end up on oxygen and die slowly/painfully, i don't need that shit" but i dont get cravings from seeing sometone smoke or smelling it ( though i still do like the smell of fresh cig smoke - stale smoke smell makes me feel sick).

The only time I was able to quit for a decent amount of time was with the patch for 6 months. It's real hard especially when you sit at a cpu all day

Rorschach 03-07-2004 04:03 AM

Check out Dr Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. It really is easy (if you follow the method he tells you), I've been clean for about 5 years and I never even think about smoking, and I honestly and genuinely find it quite disgusting now. It's all about associations.

I drink too much to think about quiting

whee 03-07-2004 01:30 PM

I had the nerve to quit 15 years of hard 30 cigs/day smoking, 14 days before the birth of our daughter. It's been 10 months now, I only miss the smoking when I go party and after sex... lol

Good luck man, I hope you succeed. It's worth it in so many ways.

:thumbsup

doornx 03-07-2004 01:49 PM

never had any problem quitting.
if you want to stay as long as you want,
as early as now, learn how to be a quitter.
it pays off :thumbsup

Mr. Marks 03-16-2004 01:16 AM

I never really tried to quite. I just lessened the amount of cigs I smoke everyday. It's a hard habit to break, good luck.
