Converting video files, advice please
 

I've got a lot of movies in different formats I want to make suitable to put them in a member area.
Dvd's. I got a programm to rip dvd's. What's best, to split them into scenes or serve the whole movie?

What's the best format to serve movies?? Is it better to serve them in the browser or in media player?.

How do you make a movie suitable for modem users? I've seen links like 56k modem users click here and dsl users click here?
I've tried the search function but I keep getting errors.

Are there good online tutorials? Can anyone point me to some recommended software?

Any help/links appreciated!

Personally, cut the movies into scenes. That way you'll have 4-6 scenes instead of just one movie. It appears that you have more.

More and more users have access to DSL/Cable, but be safe and give them a 56k version too.

WMV will work for the majority of the users, but again be safe and offer mpg version too.
