The government will always censor as much as possible, lie to the public, and be ruled by corruption. This is the world we live in. Only thing that bugs me is how they tax the fuck out of you for everything.

Yeah, this type of shit seriously makes me so pissed. I go to Europe a couple times a year and there really is a big difference, they may not have "free speech" specifically written in any "constitution", but most countries in Europe are more free than the USA. Why the fuck should one person be able to tell millions of people what they should and shouldn't be able to listen to, watch, say, etc. Total bullshit.

Looks like Stern show is about over. Infinity will get fined a shitload of cash and he'll be fired as well.

Hopefully he'll setup some subscription based internet radio show then :thumbsup

March 6, 2004 -- An anxious Howard Stern yesterday said the FCC is on the verge of pulling the plug on his controversial radio career and predicted it would issue a blitz of new indecency fines aimed at dethroning him as the "King of All Media."
In a rant that took up nearly half of Stern's four-hour show, the raunchy radio host launched a verbal assault on President Bush, the Republican Party and the religious right for conspiring to control the airwaves and dictate what America should listen to.

"My days are over," Stern told his early-morning listeners. "I've become too much of a symbol of a country out of control to the religious right. That's why I'm saying my goodbyes now.

"I'm about to be served up my head on a platter because all I wanted to do was make people laugh," Stern said.

He urged listeners not to support Bush in the presidential election. "Vote this maniac out of office," he said. Stern told listeners he can go to unregulated satellite radio if he's kicked off conventional radio - but that may not be as easy as it sounds.

This really feels like some kind of a turning point for this country. The point when the United States goes from a government for the people by the people (when really it hasn't been that way in 100 years) to a country run by whacko religious groups and heffer dykes (Rosie O'Donnell). It sucks, but it's one more reason for me to move to Europe. Really sad.

nah, forget it. Europe isn't that nice itself. At least in States you can speak English anywhere, and noone can tell you that your English sucks, and go back to your fucking country. Over in Europe you can hear that in some regions..

I don't think anyone will tell me my English sucks :)

Europe rocks, I love it there, espescially Scandinavia. I am sure I'll get my share of the "go home," when I move there, but I get the same shit here in Hawaii from the "locals" whose land I "stole." Doesn't really bother me much though. If they don't like it, they can :321GFY

Although that does bother me, it doesn't bother me half as much as when it is written that I have these rights, when in reality I really don't. It also makes me mad that there are people out there who make my decisions for me, tell me what I should and shouldn't be able to experience/enjoy. Anyway, this isn't a political forum, so back to the smut. :)

This forum is an everything forum really ;)

And I agree somewhat. Though the fact that people in this day and age know a certain type of speach is illegal, and either do nt care or support it bothers me too. But it can also be frustrating when the sheep's can't seem to catch on to restrictive measures places by the Governement upon the people.

Germany - all 'racist' speach is illegal (they even tried to ban the largest right-wing party)

Britian - same story really

Norway - same story really. As well, you can not even register domains in Norway if you plan to put an anti-immigration site, or something similar onto them. That is illegal.

They are some I know of, and I am assured by my European friends it is similar in many countries.

You forgot France, Belgium, et cetera. The utterance of "hateful" speech is the crime of "hate-spreading," and lands some hefty fines and time behind bars. If you don't agree with the official Holocaust story the punishment is even harder. In Norway it's the same deal, except you are safe if you are sharing your opinions with just friends. If you tell any public (standing on a corner handing out fliers or talking to strangers) about your opinions however, be prepared for a fine and a few months in jail.

Shima is from Estonia though, a small baltic country, and I think they have escaped the hardest hits of the clutches of PC dictatorship.

Yes, but you are only allowed to vote on "approved" parties in most of Europe, since non-PC parties are banned even if they have considerable support in the population.

Tell me that's democracy?

That's one of the biggest fallacies about our gevernment. We do vote, but our vote doesn't mean shit. Everything is decided by an electoral college. Just look at the last Presidential election for example.

I believe if what you hear offends you, turn your radio station to one of the other ones. You don't like a tv program, use the remote and change the channel. Parents complain their kids get into porn on the Internet...well..have they tried taking the computer out of the kids bedroom, putting it in the family room where everyone is around or installing a password on the damn thing and only let them on when they can be monitored? No of course not..parents expect the net to be "G-rated" so they can use it as a babysitter because they are too damn lazy to watch their own children and want someone else to do it for them. Damn that is a thorn in my side.

How long do you guys figure it will be before they start choking the internet down...If Bush stays in power this time he will start working on it, you can bet your ass.

And if you think they can't do it, your living in a dream world.

Get Bush the hell out of power, is all i can say. He is a fucking dictator posing as an elected president. (likely rigged the last election too.)

unconnected 03-07-2004 10:38 AM

Same shit happened with dialers in the USA in 2001.. you think anyone gave a damn? Hell no, the FTC comes in, guns blazing, shuts down the industry because of a few bad apples and everone in the world was delighted. But now the Tyrant is spreading to other areas, mainstream areas, and oooh now you hear everyone cry. All of us running legitimate dialer operations in 2001 knew this was coming, we saw it coming as we were the first ones struck when this monkey came into power.

communism
A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members.

fascism
A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

just nitpicking:winkwink:

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the Leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

The USA did such a great job of demonizing the enemy that
many believe 'communism' and 'facism' are interchangeable.

America is not facing communism. (Bush is the opposite of communism)
We are facing facism.

I can't see that happening.

How would America go from a commercial materialistic greedy self-obsessed culture of "gotta get mine" "screw the other guy" "immamuthafuckinplayapimpdogg" to a system of universally shared resources? And who would be motivated to even attempt that? Unrestricted capitalism does a much better job of making the rich richer and more powerful.

-Communism is the opposite of Capitalism.
-Facism is the opposite of Freedom.
You can have one without the other.

You can (we may) have a Facist government AND Capitalism.

The government can allow you to continue to fight for material wealth while also limiting what you're allowed to say and do.

It's not accurate as was presented during the cold war where Democracy/Freedom/Capitalism always go together and Communism/Facism always go together. These are all seperate words and ideas. People would sound smarter if they used them appropriately.

And, btw, promoting proper usage isn't condoning the practice.
