Anyone own a Treadmill?
If so what brand do you have and are you happy with it? I was thinking of taking a room here in the house and throwing tv, stereo and treadmill in it and getting in there and walking for a little while everday and doing thinking and stuff like that.
I already take walks but I thought a treadmill might be cool, so let me know what you've got. |
I own one. Hell if I can remember the brand though. I spilled gravy on the name plate.
What I can tell you is that it is the best damn thing I ever did buy! I set it up next to my Lay-Z-Boy and put the fridge on the other end of it. Now when I want a sammich...I just turn the sucker on and it brings the fridge to me! I am thinking of getting another one to put the Lay-Z-Boy on so that I don't have to walk to the shitter. I hope this helps. |
Moving sucks.

I bought one used awhile back and used it often...and then one night no shit the thing went like The Jetsons haywire...I almost went shooting off the back end but good thing I had the clip connected to my shorts and it cut it off.

I have one I picked for about $400. It was rated high on Consumer Reports and does everything I need it to do :) I think it's Image or something similar.
|
was thinking abuout buying one until I had a baby - now I spend all day runnign after her and I dont need one
|
I thought we were supposed to get all the exercise we need form having sex....
|
We have a Reebok that we have had for about 1.5 years, and it's still going strong. The wife uses it every other day for about 30 minutes, I'm only on it about twice a week... I hate cardio!
Anyway, some things to consider are the surface area of the tredmill, the HP rating and how much the tredmill absorbs impact just in case you decide to run on it later down the road! |

In our exercise room we have a Pro Form 795 SL.... bought it almost 2 years ago. No problems, and it has been used 5 times a week since it we got it.
:thumbsup |
I used to have a Pro Form and it work great! However, I got rid of it because it became more of a coat rack instead. LOL
I really want to get an elliptical machine. Do you know of any good ones? :) |
I have a Nordic Track. 8600, I think. It also has all this ifit.com crap with it, too. I like it a lot. I have a TV set up in front of it, so I usually watch a movie or something while I'm on it.
|
I have a low end eliptical (evolution) and a cheap tread mill cadence 200. they are both fine.
|
i own a precor i barely use it . i like going to the gym better
|
I have one. The only advice I can give you is to get as wide a walking path as your budget affords. You'll curse yourself a few months from now if you don't.
Also, less important but a nice luxury having a super quiet model. It really makes listening to the radio while you work out much less annoying to the people you live with. You have to crank it to hear well over some treadmills. Good luck. Treadmills are the most awesome piece of exercise equipment you could own IMO. |
I own one but dont use it, I like walking or running outside more.
|
Go for the best - I have a Landice - that is a gym quality unit. Nice thing is, its totally silent, so you can watch TV without listening to a motor. I do 40 minutes on it, 7 days a week, all the exercise you need.
The ones in Sears sound lile alley cats on crack and burn up in a year... |

I run on a Precor at the gym I go to.. it's a very well built treadmill. Does incline, variable speeds, measures a ton of different shit.
|
Get an elliptical machine, sort of a crossover between a treadmill and the elipse machine..
How many cardio machines were you looking to put in there? If you're just putting one, and planning on using it a lot, I would stay away from a treadmill because of your knees... |
Anyone know what the sports athletes use in their team gyms?
|
if there is a nearby gym, go there instead. cheaper, and you'll make a lot better gains. they have much more equipment and the enviroment is a lot more intense. if you're going to do something, don't do it half heartedly and get a treadmill in the "comfort" of your own home.
fitness is about dedication, intensity and hard work. if you have the ability to go to a gym, do that instead. if not, then do what you're doing now ;) |

Unless, you're just looking for something that will keep you in decent shape. Make sure this isn't something you're going to buy and not use after a few weeks. |
