The best opening line for a book

I'm reading "The Secret Lif of Salvador Dali" written by Salvador Dali. The first line is his book:

At the age of six I wanted to be a cook. At seven I wanted to be Napoleon. And my ambition has been growing steadily ever since.

"All it took was an 'MMMBop' -- a unit of time measured in the amount it takes to snap your fingers -- and poof! From the 'middle of nowhere' out sprung Hanson: Isaac, Taylor, and Zachary, totally talented, awesomely adorable teen brothers to set music charts and young female hearts on fire."

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters ...

Most of Dalis writings are genius I think.

In fact, the only way I can rival that from memory is from the Spike Milligan book where its starts something like this:

"After Puckoon I swore I'd never write another book. This is it.":thumbsup

So once upon a time, I tried to convince a publisher to take this book. I had been waiting all my life to write a book like this.

Really? Its one of my favorite movies of all time. Depp and Del Torro were so great.

Especially their mesciline scene at the circus! lol

He's one of those writers that are tough to read without a dictionary sitting near by. It's quite amazing really that someone could have been so great at so many things.
