Is phone tapping legal?

Hey guys,

does anyone know if phone tapping done by the police department legal?

If someone is being charged with a crime, can the DA or Police tap there phone for information and use it against them in the court of law? thanks.

would depend on the state. if they suspect you of something they can, but they usually need a warrant to do so.
