Domain resale market has more than doubled in recent months. Can you believe in this?

According to VeriSign, the resale market for domain names has more than doubled in recent months from previous years. A typical resale price for a domain is ringing in at around $24,000, whereas a collection of popular domains recently sold for as much as $100,000 each.
Full story.

Personally I thought the domain name resale market will never rise too much after that well known don com crisis.

I wonder if KRL knew when he was working on that deal that it would increase the value of his entire portfolio.

Amazing.

Anything is worth whatever someone will pay for it.. it's an investment for a lot of people.. may not pay itself off over a year or so.. but many people think beyond 10 or even 20 years in business.

Mr. Marks 03-04-2004 04:58 PM

totally insane.

just a punk 03-04-2004 05:02 PM

IPK 03-04-2004 07:55 PM

it's about time.

shermo 03-04-2004 07:58 PM

I haven't seen much of a jump in the public eye, but maybe the public is starting to realize that the internet isn't going away, and that there are only so many .com's available that'd be decent brands.

Personally I don't think even good type-in domain name like business.com could generate enough money just to recover those $7M which were spent to buy it.

Mr.com did not sell. Nor did smoking.com
Check out www.greatdomains.com - Neither have been noted as sold.

Additionally - If mr.com did in fact sell for $350k -
Why in the fuck can I not get a measly $150k for er.com

I just have a healthy set of balls. That was a very risky acquisition. I looked at the market and saw the only way to get the 7 fig spark going strong again, it needed someone to step up and give it a good kick in the butt for some much needed worlwide media attention.

2nd round of articles worldwide hit again this week. Here's a couple.

If I can recall correctly on Rick's private forum - You're/were backed on this entire deal by some heirest of a large eight figure fortune. I wish I had those "set of balls" in my pocket. :1orglaugh
