"Web sites would have to set up credit card verification or age identification checks to ensure children would be restricted from viewing or downloading pornographic material.

Maximum punishments would be six months in jail or $50,000 in fines."

I'm glad I'm not in the US anymore!

Oh shit, the sky is falling.....

I remember when the COPA laws went into effect. Everyone was worried. Seems have really effected us.

And if you read the article you'll come across....

"Web sites would have to set up credit card verification or age identification checks to ensure children would be restricted from viewing or downloading pornographic material. "

Sounds to me like we are already doing that.

If this goes through - which is highly unlikely - it will be shot down on the first day it goes into effect.

Does our fucking government understand what newsgroups are?

The Internet is not a place for "children". The Internet is huge meeting place with tons of information and millions of people. You can't tell people they can't post perfectly legal pictures on the Internet. It's not gonna happen.

All of this doesn't matter.... Children CANNOT be on the Internet unsupervised. It has nothing to do with porn. It's the pedos everyone should be worried about. The local news just did a nice little sting where they went into chat rooms posing as young girls and these guys showed up at this house thinking they were gonna get some....... That's what needs to be controled on the Internet.

Whew. I'm done here.

It will only kill the US based free content.

I don't think there will be something changed in a near future . But I only hope americans cannot see free porn anymore . A lot lot lot lot more money for us to come !
