why are all you tgps so scared of putting up a 2257?
We are running into a lot of tgps signing up for our network but one of the requirements we have is they need to at least have a 2257 posted.
We do this in order to protect our clients as well as affiliates. So let me have it, why do you disapprove or approve of it. The main response we are getting is we are not serving the images. So therefore we do not HAVE to do it. I have seen already that a majority of the tgps are hosting the thumbnails from their server and some of those thumbnails are explicit. So you ARE hosting images that need to be covered by a 2257. |
I put it on my TGPs cause I would rather be safe than sorry
|
How can you put up a 2257 if you have no idea wether the thumbs are legit or not?

Seriously, it would take you ten minutes at the most to make the page and link to the 2257 statements of the programs you have joined. This would save your ass in the long run and how is it going to hurt you?
Your simply stating that this site you link too has their 257 info in order and would save your butt if you something was to go down with sponsor concerning illegal images. |
Google has explicit images on their image search and provides no 2257 info for it.
My thinking is that a thumb TGP falls into the same category, since its just a "thumb preview" of a full size image that's hosted somewhere else. I do however have a link to my 2257 page on EVERY one of my galleries, even though this one extra link keeps me from getting my gallery through alot of the TGP scripts out there :( |
You also get into that issue as to who produced the image. Certainly not the TGP owner, especially if the person that submitted the gallery is the one that supplied the thumb. Of course the safest route to go with your thumb preview would be specify that all thumbs had to be no-explicit. In other words they didn?t have any conduct in the thumb that can be found in 18 U.S.C Section 2256 (2) (A)-(D)

Just kidding, thank you for the heads up. |
Since you dont host, produce or have access to the 2257 you should not be required by anyone to post it.
Where are you going to tell them the custodian of records is located? Once way of knowing you are 2257 compliant is to only use spaonsors that have it posted on their sites. Pretty simple. I guess you can put in on the tgp, but its meaningless. |
After talking with clients and webmasters all day we are making the fields optional.
Our clients will still have the option to require it but as of right now we are going to allow them to decide what is in the best interest for their program. Thank you for the feedback. |
